Landscape professionals who work within coastal buffer zones are invited to enroll in University of Rhode Island’s two-day invasive plant management certification program being held at the Narragansett Bay Campus on July 7 and 8.

Permits for invasive plant management in coastal buffer zones will only be granted by the Coastal Resources Management Council to professionals who hold the certification from this program.

A new master of arts degree in special education will be offered at the University of Rhode Island in the fall. The graduate program in special education will enable students to meet the Council for Exceptional Children standards and the requirements for Rhode Island special education certification in the area of mild/moderate disabilities at the elementary and middle school levels.

The degree is earned through a full-time three-semester, 36-credit program. The university will accept 12 to 15 students for the fall. The application deadline is July 10.
