Race distance: 400 miles, 200 laps.
Last race: Kyle Busch led 52 laps from the pole and won the Centurion Boats at The Glen at Watkins Glen International to become the first driver in NASCAR history to win three road course races in one season. Busch, who also clinched a spot in the 10-race Chase for the Cup title, has won 16 races in NASCAR’s top three series this season — eight in Sprint Cup, six in Nationwide and two in trucks — and three came on road courses. He won the Nationwide race in Mexico in April and the Cup race at Sonoma in June.
Last year: Kurt Busch dominated in the second half to capture the 3M Performance 400 that had twice been postponed because of rain. Busch had to hold off Martin Truex Jr. in the closing laps for the victory.
Fast facts: Matt Kenseth finished 12th at Watkins Glen to move into 12th place in the standings, 22 points ahead of Clint Bowyer in the race for the final slot to make the postseason. ... Marcos Ambrose, despite starting in last position, finished third at Watkins Glen, a day after winning the Nationwide race ... Since August 1999, 14 different drivers have won 18 Sprint Cup races at Michigan. Greg Biffle, Kurt Busch, Kenseth and Ryan Newman are the two-time winners. ... In 2001, Tony Stewart, starting 28th, became the deepest starter to win a Sprint Cup race at Michigan. ... Carl Edwards is the only driver with more than one race at Michigan who has completed all of his possible laps. ... Last race: Marcos Ambrose took advantage of a fortuitous pit stop midway through the Zippo 200 at Watkins Glen and easily beat Kyle Busch for his first career NASCAR victory.
Last year: Denny Hamlin fought off a midrace challenge from Matt Kenseth, then drove away for a dominating victory in the Carfax 250.
Fast facts: Ambrose’s victory last week was the first for an Australian in any of NASCAR’s top three divisions. ... Dario Franchitti, back in a NASCAR ride for the first time in nearly a month, finished eighth at Watkins Glen. Franchitti, who lost his Cup ride with Chip Ganassi Racing last month because of a lack of sponsorship, was competing in the first of seven Nationwide starts this season for Ganassi. ... Jeff Burton and Jimmie Johnson battled for the lead and Ambrose was third with 12 laps to go last week, when the two leaders ran out of gas less than four laps from the end, allowing Ambrose to coast to victory. ... Brad Keselowski’s sixth-place finish last week moved him ahead of Carl Edwards into second place in the series standings, 128 points behind leader Clint Bowyer.

Race distance: 106.6 miles, 200 laps.
Last race: Johnny Benson became the fifth truck driver to win three straight races, passing Erik Darnell with three laps left and pulling away in the Toyota Tundra 200. Benson, the winner of four of the last five races, joined Mike Skinner (1996 and 2007), Ron Hornaday (1997), Greg Biffle (2000) and Todd Bodine (2005) as the only drivers to win three races in a row in the series’ 13-year history.
Last year: Benson postponed a pit stop and then held off Brendan Gaughan to win the O’Reilly 200.
Fast facts: Benson, a 13-time winner in the series, leads Hornaday by 45 points with 10 races remaining. ... Chrissy Wallace, along with her father Mike, rang the closing bell at the New York Stock Exchange on Tuesday. Chrissy is expected to make her next Craftsman Trucks start on Sept. 6 at Gateway International Raceway. ... Colin Braun leads the Rookie of the Year standings by 16 over Donny Lia. ... Jack Sprague has won a race in each year except for the series’ inaugural year of 1995 and in 2003, when he only started twice. He is winless this year.

Last event: Tony Schumacher raced to his fourth straight victory and ninth of the season, winning the Lucas Oil Nationals at Brainerd International Raceway to move within two of Joe Amato’s Top Fuel win record of 52. Tony Pedregon (Funny Car), Kurt Johnson (Pro Stock) and Matt Smith (Pro Stock Motorcycle) also won their divisions
Last year: Doug Herbert ended a nearly three-year winless streak to earn the final spot in the Countdown to the Championship, defeating “Hot Rod” Fuller in the rain-delayed final of the Toyo Tires NHRA Nationals. Pedregon, Pro Stock’s Dave Connolly and Pro Stock Motorcycle’s Matt Guidera also scored big wins in the final regular-season race.
Fast facts: Schumacher has reached the final in nine of the last 11 events and hasn’t lost a race since June. ... POWERade Series drivers will meet each other on Thursday in the NHRA Softball Classic at FirstEnergy Stadium, to benefit the Drag Racing Association of Women. ... Pedregon passed Robert Hight for second place in the Funny Car standings and Johnson passed Jason Line for second place in the Pro Stock standings with their wins last week. Pedregon trails Tim Wilkerson by 141 points while Johnson is 156 behind Greg Anderson.

INDY RACING LEAGUE
Last race: Scott Dixon came from behind at Kentucky Speedway, passing Helio Castroneves coming off the final turn on the 1.5-mile oval to win the Meijer Indy 300. It was the second win in a row and the sixth victory of the season for Dixon, tying the record of Dan Wheldon, his Chip Ganassi Racing teammate. Dixon is going for his second IndyCar championship.

FORMULA ONE
Last race: McLaren driver Heikki Kovalainen won his first F1 race on Aug. 3 after Ferrari’s Felipe Massa had engine trouble with three laps to go in the Hungarian Grand Prix. Massa overtook Kovalainen and pole sitter Lewis Hamilton at the start and was heading for victory after Hamilton fell back following a tire puncture. But Massa’s engine overheated toward the end and Kovalainen took an 11-second victory over Timo Glock of Toyota. Massa ended up 17th, out of the points.
