Interstate Highway Restrictions
New Iway Split
Providence: RIDOT has opened the Iway for traffic from Route 195 West to Route 95 South. The new split on Route 195 West is immediately after Exit 3 (Gano Street) and the Washington Bridge. Detailed information and maps can be found at www.dot.ri.gov.

Providence: Route 195 westbound between Exit 5 (Route 103/Warren Avenue) and Route 95, possible lanes closures for Iway work, Sunday-Thursday nights from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Weekday
Hopkinton: Route 95 southbound at Connecticut state line, expect shoulder closure due to bridge washing, Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Continuing
Pawtucket: Route 95 between Exits 27 (George Street) and 28 (School Street) posted for use only by vehicles of less than 18 tons. Detours required for heavier vehicles.
West Greenwich: Route 95 between Exits 5 (Route 102) and 6 (Route 3), lane shifts in place for Weaver Hill Road bridge rehabilitation project.

South Kingstown: Route 1 from Route 138/Moorsefield Road to Oliver Stedman Government Complex, lane shifts in place due to landscape work in the median, Monday and Tuesday nights from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Newport/Jamestown: Route 138 eastbound and westbound on the Pell (Newport) Bridge, various single-lane closures for bridge deck repair by the R.I. Turnpike & Bridge Authority, weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
South Kingstown: Route 1, between Point Judith Road and Pond Street exits, expect shoulder closure for bridge washing Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Special events
Providence: A full lighting of I is scheduled for Saturday, July 4, at dusk. Expect congestion on city streets in the downtown area.
Providence: Two events in the Fox Point area may create congestion and delays for motorists including closures on and around Wickenden Street on July 3 from 2 to 9:30 p.m. and a fireworks display based in India Point Park on July 4.

East Providence/Barrington: Route 114 (Wampanoag Trail) northbound and southbound from Route 195 interchange to Old County Road, left lane closed for safety improvement project, Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Providence/East Providence: Various closures of lanes on roads under the Henderson Bridge (Red Bridge), Monday and Tuesday affecting East River Road in Providence and Wednesday and Thursday affecting Massasoit Avenue in East Providence, from 9 a.m. 3 p.m. each day.
Providence: Washington Street through Kennedy Plaza, left lane closure for market bazaar and farmers’ market, Monday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

East Providence: Willett Avenue (Route 103) from Charlotte Street to Metropolitan Park Drive, road closed for gas main installation by National Grid, weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. An occasional closure may be scheduled on Saturdays. Detour in place. Work scheduled through Aug. 21.
Providence/East Providence: New traffic pattern on the Henderson Bridge (Red Bridge) for bridge rehabilitation until Fall 2009:
Henderson Bridge westbound, right lane closed as well as exit from Massasoit Avenue southbound. Detour in place using Waterman Avenue and Taunton Avenue to North Broadway.
Henderson Bridge eastbound, left lane closed. Bicycle and pedestrian traffic should use the southern (eastbound) sidewalk. See www.dot.ri.gov/bikeri for more information.
Providence: The City of Providence has scheduled numerous resurfacing and reconstruction projects this summer and fall. Visit www.providenceri.com/publicworks/

Coventry: Route 117 (Flat River Road) eastbound and westbound, from Old Main Street/Colvintown Road to Read School House Road, possible various lane closures for Kent County Water Authority resurfacing project, Monday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
West Warwick: Expect shoulder closure for bridge washing Wednesday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the following locations:
Route 115 (Main Street) between Clyde Street and East Main Street.
Fairview Avenue between Ames Street and Main Street.

Richmond: Shannock Road, east of North Road, over Wood River, expect delays due to possible various lane closures for bridge washing Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Westerly: Route 1A (Shore Road) from Ocean View Highway to Route 1 (Post Road), motorists may encounter one lane of alternating traffic due to resurfacing work, Tuesday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Jamestown: Conanicus Avenue seawall repair at the Bay View Drive intersection. Possible one lane of alternating traffic weekdays 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. when heavy equipment is in use.

Tiverton: Main Road (Route 138) northbound from Warren Avenue to Massachusetts state line, various lane closures for curbing and sidewalk work, Monday-Saturday, 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Portsmouth-Tiverton: Sakonnet Bridge (Route 24) posted for use by vehicles under 18 tons. Heavier vehicles must use alternate routes. The bridge is safe for passenger vehicles.
Warren: Route 103 (Child Street) from Metacom Avenue (Route 136) to Main Street (Route 114), road closed weekdays from 6 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for gas main installation by National Grid. Detour in place. Work scheduled through
July 24.
