Interstate Highways

New Iway Split

Providence: RIDOT has opened the Iway for traffic from Route 195 westbound to Route 95 South. The new split on Route 195 west is right after Exit 3 (Gano Street) and the Washington Bridge. For details and maps, go to www.dot.ri.gov.

Weekend restrictions

Providence: Route 195 west between Exit 3 (Gano Street) and Exit 2 (S. Main St.), right lane closed Saturday from 5 to 10 a.m.

Providence: Route 95 north after Exit 19 (Route 195), single-lane closure possible for barrier placement, Saturday from 6 to 10 a.m.

Overnight restrictions

Providence: Route 195 west between Exit 5 (Route 103/Warren Avenue) and Route 95, possible lanes closures for Iway work, Sunday to Thursday from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Providence: On ramp from Gano Street to Route 195 west closed for paving, Sunday night from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Weekday restrictions

Providence: Route 95 north and south near Exit 17 (Elmwood Avenue) shoulder closures for bridge inspection Monday (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.)

Smithfield: Route 295 north between Exit 8 (Route 7) and Exit 9 (Route 146 south), right shoulder closed for drainage work, Monday to Thursday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Friday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Hopkinton: Route 95 south at Connecticut state line, expect shoulder closure due to bridge washing, Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Continuing restrictions

Pawtucket: Route 95 between Exits 27 (George Street) and 28 (School Street) posted for use only by vehicles of less than 18 tons. Detours for heavier vehicles.

West Greenwich: Route 95 between Exits 5 (Route 102) and 6 (Route 3), lane shifts in place for Weaver Hill Road bridge rehab project.

Metropolitan Providence

Weekday restrictions

East Providence/Barrington: Route 114 (Wampanoag Trail) north and south from Route 195 interchange to Old County Road, left lane closed in a moving operation for safety improvement project, Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Providence: Gano Street under Route 195 overpass, expect lane closures due to bridge inspection, Tuesday and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

East Providence: Water Street under Route 195 overpass, expect lane closures due to bridge inspection, Wednesday and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Providence: Washington Street through Kennedy Plaza, left lane closure for market bazaar and farmer’s market, Monday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Continuing restrictions

Providence/East Providence: New traffic pattern on Henderson Bridge (Red Bridge) for bridge rehab until Fall 2009:

Henderson Bridge west, right lane closed as well as exit from Massasoit Avenue south. Detour in place using Waterman Avenue and Taunton Avenue to North Broadway.

Henderson Bridge east, left lane closed. Bicycle and pedestrian traffic should use southern (eastbound) sidewalk.

East Providence: Willett Avenue (Route 103) from Charlotte Street to Metropolitan Park Drive, road closed for gas main installation by National Grid, weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. An occasional closure may be on Saturdays. Detour in place. Work set through Aug. 21.

Providence: Exchange Street at the Amtrak Station, closed to through traffic weekdays until mid-August for building construction.

West Bay

Overnight restriction

Warwick: Post Road (Route 1) near Green State Airport, between Coronado Road and Montebello Road, one lane closed in each direction Sunday to Thursday from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. for work on new pedestrian skywalk for Warwick Intermodal Station.

Weekday restrictions

Coventry: Route 117 (Flat River Road.) east and west, from Old Main Street/Colvintown Road to Read School House Road, possible lane closures for Kent County Water Authority resurfacing project, weather permitting, weekdays from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Coventry: Route 117 (Flat River Road) east and west from Peckham Road to Victory Highway (Route 102), alternating lane closures for chip seal placement, Monday & Tuesday from 6 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

East Greenwich/W. Greenwich: Division Road from Shippetown Road in East Greenwich to Hopkins Hill Road in West Greenwich, alternating lane closures for chip seal placement, Wednesday and Thursday from 6 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Cranston: Lane closures for bridge washing from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at:

Monday: Pontiac Avenue Bridge between Kenney Drive and Power Road; Park Avenue Bridge at Route 10 interchange.

Tuesday: Park Avenue Bridge, just east of the Dyer Avenue/Budlong Road intersection; Dyer Avenue Bridge between Park Avenue and Trainor Street.

Continuing restrictions

West Greenwich: Weaver Hill Road at Route 95 overpass near Route 3, lane closures possible, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., for bridge rehab.

Cranston: Natick Avenue, from Wilbur Avenue to Comfort Drive, closed weekdays from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. for road construction by the City of Cranston.

South County

Overnight restriction

South Kingstown: Route 1 from Route 138/Moorsefield Road to Oliver Stedman Government Complex, lane shifts due to landscape median work, Sunday to Thursday from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Weekday restrictions

Westerly: Route 1A (Shore Road) from Ocean View Highway to Route 1 (Post Road), motorists may encounter one lane of alternating traffic due to resurfacing work, Monday to Thursday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Narragansett: Ocean Road from South Pier Road to Bass Rock Road, motorists may encounter one lane of alternating traffic due to resurfacing work, Monday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Westerly: Route 78, expect shoulder closure for bridge washing from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at:

Wednesday: Bridge over Wood River at Connecticut state line.

Thursday: Bridge over High Street at Exit 3; Bridge over Canal Street, west of Exit 3.

Continuing restriction

Hopkinton/Richmond: Bridge Street over Wood River, closed to traffic due to bridge condition, detour in place.

Northern RI and Blackstone Valley

Weekday restrictions

Burrillville: Route 102, expect various lane closures for bridge washing from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at:

Monday: Bridge over Whipple Avenue./Oakland School Street; Bridge over Clear River, west of Douglas Pike (Route 7).

Tuesday: Bridge over Clear River, between East Avenue (Route 107) and Douglas Pike (Route 7).

Lincoln: Route 246 (Old Louisquisset Pike) from Breakneck Hill Road (Route 123) to Route 116/Route 146 interchange, various lane closures due to construction, Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
