DOT TRAFFIC REPORT

All RIDOT construction and maintenance activities are conducted as weather allows.

Interstate Highways

Overnight restriction

Providence: Route 195 westbound on the Washington Bridge, lanes closed for bridge work, Sunday–Thursday nights, 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Warwick: Route 295 southbound, between Exit 3 (Route 37) and Route 95, left lane closed Wednesday, Thursday nights, 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. for paving.

Cumberland: Route 295 southbound, between the Massachusetts State Line and Exit 10 (Route 122, Mendon Road), lanes closed Sunday-Tuesday nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. for paving.

Continuing restriction

Pawtucket: Route 95 between Exits 27 (George Street) and 28 (School Street) posted for use only by vehicles of less than 18 tons. Detours required for heavier vehicles.

Nearby construction

Massachusetts: Route 295 northbound and southbound between the Rhode Island State Line and Route 95 is being resurfaced. Motorists should be prepared for lane closures in this area.

Metropolitan Providence

Weekday restriction

E. Providence: Valley Street, Warren Avenue - No. Brow Street, closed to through traffic Wednesday through Friday 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Continuing restriction

E. Providence: No. Broadway bridges at Roger Williams Avenue (over Ten Mile River), bridges posted at 7 tons. Heavier vehicles required to use detour.

Providence/E. Providence: Henderson Bridge (Red Bridge) eastbound, exit closed to Massasoit Ave. southbound. Detour using exit for Massasoit Avenue northbound.

Providence: Brown Street, between Angell Street and Waterman Street, closed to through traffic through September 1 for construction, according to the City of Providence.

Providence: Westminster Street, between Exchange Street and Dorrance Street, lane closed weekdays 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. through October for building construction.

West Bay

Weekday restriction

Coventry: Road paving with lane closure following sewer construction on Tiogue Avenue, Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Continuing restriction

E. Greenwich-N. Kingstown: Frenchtown Road (Route 402) over Route 4, bridge closed for repairs, detour in place.

South County

Weekend restriction

Narragansett: Route 1A (Boston Neck Road), between Indian Trail and the Bridgetown Road/So. Ferry Road intersection, lanes closed for paving and striping, Saturday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Weekday restriction

Richmond: Route 138 (Kingstown Road), between Route 112 (Richmond Townhouse Road) and Route 95, lane closed Monday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. for paving and striping.

Continuing Restriction

Exeter: Austin Farm Road over Route 95, one lane of alternating traffic for rural bridge repair.

Northern RI and Blackstone Valley

Overnight restriction

No. Smithfield: Route 146 northbound, between the Route 104 (Greenville Road) and Pound Hill Road, left lane closed for guardrail installation, Sunday–Thursday nights, 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Weekday restriction

No. Smithfield: Route 146 northbound at the Great Road overpass, right lane closed Monday–Thursday, 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for demolition work.

Scituate: Scituate Avenue (Route 12), at the Gainer Dam, between North Road (Route 116) and Howard Avenue, one lane closed weekdays 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for Providence Water Supply Board masonry work underway at the Gainer Dam.

Woonsocket: Hamlet Avenue, between Florence Drive and Morton Avenue, one lane of alternating traffic, Monday– Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. for City of Woonsocket improvements. Motorists should expect delays in the area.

Continuing restrictions

No. Smithfield: School Street bridge over Route 146 closed to traffic, with a detour in place.

No. Smithfield: Route 146 southbound under Great Road, one lane closed for bridge rehabilitation.

East Bay

Weekday restriction

Newport/Jamestown: Pell Newport Bridge (Route138) eastbound and westbound between Newport and Jamestown, lane closed weekdays 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for RITBA deck repair.

Continuing restriction

Portsmouth-Tiverton: Sakonnet Bridge (Route 24) posted for use by vehicles under 18 tons. Heavier vehicles must use alternate routes. The bridge is safe for passenger vehicles.
