Interstate Highways
Weekend restriction
Providence/E. Providence: Route 195 eastbound between Exits 2 or 3 (India Street/Gano Street) and 4 (Taunton Avenue), right lane closed from Saturday at 5 a.m. until Monday at 6 a.m., to pour and cure concrete for a lane on the Washington Bridge. Trucks are asked to travel only in the middle lane to further reduce vibration as the concrete cures. Delays are possible on Route 195 eastbound in this area.
Overnight restriction
Providence: Route 195 between the Providence River and Exit 4 (Taunton Avenue), lanes closed Sunday (eastbound and westbound), Monday-Thursday (westbound only), 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., for construction.
Providence: Route 195 westbound, between the Washington Bridge and Exit 2 (South Main Street), lane closed for construction Sunday-Thursday, 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Warwick: Route 295 northbound, between Route 95 and Exit 2 (Bald Hill Road/Route 2), right lane closed Sunday-Wednesday, 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., for resurfacing and electrical work.
Continuing restriction
Pawtucket: Route 95 between Exits 27 (George Street) and 28 (School Street) posted for use only by vehicles of less than 18 tons. Detours required for heavier vehicles.
Nearby construction
Massachusetts: Route 295 northbound and southbound between the Rhode Island state line and Route 95 is being resurfaced. Motorists should be prepared for lane closures in this area.
Metropolitan Providence
Weekend restriction
Providence: Wayland Avenue, between Angell Street and Medway Street, closed to traffic Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., for the Taste of Wayland Square event.
Providence: Parts of Westminster Street, Eddy Street, Union Street, Clemence Street, Fulton Street, Francis Street, Exchange Terrace, Exchange Street and Memorial Boulevard (Saturday 9:30 to 11:30 p.m. only), closed various hours this weekend for Sound Session ’08.
Weekday restriction
East Providence: Valley Street, between Warren Avenue and North Brow Street, closed to through traffic Monday-Friday 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., for construction.
Providence: Weybosset Street, between Delta Street and Hay Street, closed Monday and Tuesday, 6 a.m. to 3 p.m., for crane work.
Providence: Waterman Street, left lane closed between Gano Street and Wayland Avenue, Monday and Tuesday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., for building construction.
Providence: Westminster Street, between Exchange Street and Dorrance Street, lane closed weekdays 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. through October for building construction.
Continuing restriction
East Providence: North Broadway bridges at Roger Williams Avenue (over Ten Mile River), bridges posted at 7 tons. Heavier vehicles required to use detour.
Providence: Brown Street, between Angell Street and Waterman Street, closed to through traffic May 26 to Sept. 1 for construction, according to the City of Providence.
South County
Weekday restriction:
Narragansett: Point Judith Road (Route 108) between Burnside Avenue and Sea Lea Drive, cold planing at gutters Thursday and Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Continuing Restriction
Exeter: Austin Farm Road over Route 95, one lane of alternating traffic for rural bridge repair.
West Bay
Weekday restriction
Coventry: Sewer construction continues on Main Street (Route 117) between South Main Street and the Coventry Community Center. Crews are also working in other areas performing vacuum testing and cleaning up and replacing curbs. The work is underway weekdays, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Warwick: Warwick Avenue, between Partition Street and Post Road, lanes closed for cold planing, Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Continuing restriction
East Greenwich-North Kingstown: Frenchtown Road (Route 402) over Route 4, bridge closed for repairs, detour in place.
Northern RI and Blackstone Valley
Overnight restriction
North Smithfield: Route 146, between the Route 146A (Eddie Dowling Highway) split and the Massachusetts state line, left lane closed either northbound or southbound for guardrail installation, Sunday-Thursday nights, 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Weekday restriction
Pawtucket: Smithfield Avenue (Route 126) between Power Road and Mineral Spring Avenue, cold planing at gutters Thursday and Friday, 7 am to 4 pm.
North Smithfield: Route 146 northbound at the Great Road overpass, right lane closed Monday-Thursday, 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for demolition work.
Continuing restriction
North Smithfield: School Street bridge over Route 146 closed to traffic, with a detour in place.
North Smithfield: Route 146 southbound under Great Rd., one lane closed for bridge rehabilitation.
East Bay
Weekday restriction
Newport/Jamestown: Pell Newport Bridge (Route 138) eastbound and westbound between Newport and Jamestown, lane closed weekdays 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for RITBA deck repair.
Tiverton/Portsmouth: Route 24 southbound on the Sakonnet River Bridge, right lane closed Monday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., for bridge inspection.
Continuing restriction
Portsmouth-Tiverton: Sakonnet Bridge (Route 24) posted for use by vehicles under 18 tons. Heavier vehicles must use alternate routes. The bridge is safe for passenger vehicles.
