DOT TRAFFIC REPORT

All RIDOT construction and maintenance activities are conducted as weather allows

Interstate Highways

Overnight restriction

Providence: Route 95 northbound and southbound, between Exits 19 (Iway Route 195, Eddy Street) and 21 (Broadway, Atwells Avenue), lane closed Tuesday night, 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., to install lane shift.

Providence: Route 195 westbound, between Exit 3 (Gano Street) and Route 95, one lane closed at 8 p.m., two lanes closed 11 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., Sunday through Thursday nights, 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.

Providence: Route 195 westbound, between Exits 4 (Taunton Avenue) and 2 (South Main Street) lanes closed Sunday to Thursday, 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Providence: Route 195 westbound Exit 3 (Gano Street) closed to traffic Sunday and Monday nights, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Detour in place.

Weekday restriction

Cranston: Route 95 between Exits 16 (Route 10) and 15 (Jefferson Boulevard) construction work under way in breakdown lane northbound Thursday, southbound Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Continuing restriction

Pawtucket: Route 95 between Exits 27 (George Street) and 28 (School Street) posted for use only by vehicles of less than 18 tons. Detours required for heavier vehicles.

Nearby construction

Massachusetts: Route 295 northbound and southbound between the Rhode Island state line and Route 95 is being resurfaced. Motorists should be prepared for lane closures in this area.

Metropolitan Providence

Weekend restrictions

Providence: Angell Street, between Prospect Street and Congdon Street, closed to traffic Saturday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., for RISD moving.

Providence: South Water Street, between Point Street and Tockwotton Street, closed Saturday and Sunday for the Waterfront Festival.

Providence: Webster Avenue, between Clarence Street and Roosevelt Street, closed to traffic Saturday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., for a neighborhood party.

Providence: Harborside Boulevard, Ernest Street and Shipyard Street will be closed to general traffic Saturday and Sunday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., for Johnston & Wales University opening weekend.

Weekday restriction

East Providence: Taunton Avenue (Route 44) on-ramp to Route 195 westbound closed Monday night, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Providence: Angell Street, between Wayland Avenue and Elmgrove Avenue, closed to traffic Monday to Friday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., for building construction at 489 Angell St.

Providence: Benefit Street, between Waterman Street and College Street, closed to traffic on Tuesday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., for RISD moving.

Continuing restriction

East Providence: North Broadway bridges at Roger Williams Avenue (over Ten Mile River), bridges posted at seven tons. Heavier vehicles required to use detour.

Providence/East Providence: Henderson Bridge (Red Bridge) eastbound, exit closed to Massasoit Avenue southbound. Detour using exit for Massasoit Avenue northbound.

Providence: Westminster Street, between Exchange Street and Dorrance Street, lane closed weekdays 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. through October, for building construction.

West Bay

Weekday restriction

Coventry: Route 117 (Main Street), between Sandy Bottom Road and South Main Street, closed to through traffic weekdays, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., through Sept. 12. Detour in place.

Warwick: Airport Road, eastbound and westbound, between Post Road (U.S. 1) and Warwick Avenue (Route 117), right lane closed Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; also Sunday to Thursday, 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Continuing restriction

East Greenwich-North Kingstown: Frenchtown Road (Route 402) over Route 4, bridge closed for repairs, detour in place.

South County

Weekday/Overnight Restriction

North Kingstown-Jamestown: Route 138 westbound on the Jamestown-Verrazzano Bridge, left lane closed beginning Monday at 9 a.m., and continuing until 6 a.m. Tuesday, allowing new concrete grout to cure.

Continuing Restriction

Exeter: Austin Farm Road over Route 95, one lane of alternating traffic for rural bridge repair.

Northern R.I. and Blackstone Valley

Overnight restriction

North Smithfield: Route 146 at the Great Road overpass, roadway closed Sunday (northbound) and Monday (southbound), 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.; traffic routed through the exit and on-ramps to continue on Route 146.

Weekday restriction

Foster: Moosup Valley Road from Route 14 (Plainfield Pike) to Johnson Road, various lane closures for resurfacing, Monday and Tuesday, 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Scituate: Scituate Avenue (Route 12), at the Gainer Dam, between North Road (Route 116) and Howard Avenue, one lane closed weekdays 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., for Providence Water Supply Board masonry work under way at the Gainer Dam.

Continuing restrictions

North Smithfield: School Street bridge over Route 146 closed to traffic, with a detour in place.

North Smithfield: Route 146 southbound under Great Road, one lane closed for bridge rehabilitation.

Burrillville: Shippee Bridge (Route 98/Sherman Farm Road in Harrisville) closes Sept. 15 for rehabilitation.

East Bay

Weekday restriction

Newport/Jamestown: Pell Newport Bridge (Route138) eastbound and westbound between Newport and Jamestown, lane closed weekdays 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., for RITBA deck repair.

Continuing restriction

Portsmouth-Tiverton: Sakonnet Bridge (Route 24) posted for use by vehicles under 18 tons. Heavier vehicles must use alternate routes. The bridge is safe for passenger vehicles.
