The late Steve McQueen’s four-wheeled co-star in the 1968 film Bullitt is being reprised by Ford — again. The new limited production Mustang Bullitt is due at dealerships this month as an ’08 model listing for $31,075 with freight. The car is on display at the Northeast International Auto Show in Providence.

Only 7,700 will be produced. Buyers can have any color they want as long as it’s black or dark green like the two heavily modified 1968 models used in the film, which featured one of cinema’s most-exciting car chases.

The new Bullitt will have a 4.6-liter, 315-hp. V8, more aggressive shocks and struts and better brakes than a GT and an exhaust tone that Ford says matches the high-pitched rasp of the movie’s cars. It will come only with a five-speed stick shift.
