Every morning I look in the mirror and realize how handsome I am. Then my brother reminds me that we don’t have a mirror in our cage, and I am actually looking at him.
Then we roll over on our backs, kick our paws in the air and laugh ourselves silly. Because we’re identical twins, you see. And we have the same sense of humor, along with the sleek good looks of all-black cats.
We don’t have names, though. So we’re referred to as “Twin One” and “Twin Two.” The only way we can be identified is from our eye color: my eyes are green and my brother’s eyes are yellowish-green. Other than that we’re the same: short-haired, ebony and about 4 years old.
We’re also the goofiest pair of guys you’ll ever meet. We have the same personality, which is great for playing together. We love string toys that bounce, attention from humans, and stalking dogs who have toys in their mouths to see if we can make them freak out, drop their toy and let us pounce.
Our past is a bit odd, as we grew up in a home with lots of cats. We lived in cages with wood shavings, like guinea pigs, so when we arrived here at the shelter we were a bit surprised by the whole bed-blanket-litter box set up. But we caught on pretty fast, though it took a while for us to become accustomed to being handled.
For a while we were separated, but as soon as we were reunited we couldn’t stop kissing each other. I love to give my brother hugs; we sleep snuggled together and even groom each other, just for fun.
We’ve been living here since May, a very long time. I’ll admit we’re a little shy about being lifted and we don’t care to be carried around too much, but we are a goofy pair of guys who will make you laugh. We get a little clingy when we’re nervous, but we’re always sweet. We might be shy at first in a new home, but give us time. And please, adopt both of us? We never want to be apart.
If you’ve always suspected that two is better than one, please visit us at the Animal Rescue League of Southern Rhode Island, located at 506B Curtis Corner Rd. in South Kingstown, or call (401) 783-7606. We’re open Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
ANNOUNCING: Our annual totally fabulous “Ulti-Mutt Tea and Dog Fashion Show” is coming up May 3, so reserve your tickets now by calling (401) 792-2233. We’re looking for an American Girl doll and clothes for a very special raffle basket, so if anyone sews AG outfits or has something to donate, please call us.
