Pet of the Week

I really must apologize: I am a boring cat. I have no issues, no injuries, no dramas and no odd, endearing quirks.
My name is Banshee, the wildest thing about me. I should be called “Mr. Invisible,” because no one notices me. I’ve been here for months and it’s the same old story: I’m totally ignored.
The world is filled with black and white cats, which is a problem if you’re a black and white cat sitting in a shelter hoping to be adopted. “Walk On By” should be my theme song.
Eight years ago I was a surprise gift, a little kitten left on someone’s doorstep on Christmas morning. I lived with three other cats and had such fun, but my family has moved away and couldn’t take me with them, so here I am, no longer a kitten and months away from another Christmas.
I do think I’m handsome, with white paws and a white chest. I have huge whiskers and green eyes. I’m healthy and clean, well-mannered and easygoing. I have no medical issues, I love to be brushed and I enjoy having my head petted.
I can be shy, but I warm up quickly. I enjoy sleeping in the sun (indoors, please) and I sometimes get the urge to sit in a human’s lap and enjoy an evening of watching television. I’d be a good companion because I’m not needy or high maintenance.
Living with other cats would be great fun, as I do miss the companionship. Give me a string toy and a couple of feline pals to play with and I’m one happy guy. I’m not a fussy eater and I’m accustomed to children over the age of 10.
Look, folks, I’m no Mr. Excitement, but I’m a laid-back cat with a good attitude and pleasant disposition. What more could you humans want?
If you’re looking for an easy kind of love, come see me at the Animal Rescue League of Southern Rhode Island, located at 506B Curtis Corner Rd. in South Kingstown, or call (401) 783-7606. PET UPDATES: Georgia, the peachy guinea pig, has found a new home and has settled into a new, comfy lifestyle.
Abby, our sweet black Lab, is still recovering from her operation. She is walking well, but it will be a few months before we’ll know exactly how successful the surgery was. She has made lots of new friends during her vet visits and has quite a few fans. If you’re interested in adopting a great dog, give us a call.
Kristine Rolofson is a volunteer with the Animal Rescue League of Southern Rhode Island and Small Paws 4 You. She is the author of more than 40 novels.
