Providence hosting dog show next year
07:26 AM EST on Tuesday, December 2, 2008
PROVIDENCE — The Bay Colony Dog Show will be coming to the Rhode Island Convention Center next year.
The four-day event, which had been held in Boston for a century, is one of the nation’s largest American Kennel Club dog shows.
Providence Mayor David N. Cicilline and members of the Eastern Dog Club, and the Providence Warwick Convention and Visitors Bureau, announced yesterday that the show will be held in Providence on Dec. 3-6, 2009.
This marks the end of a two-year search for a new venue. The show, which dates back to 1911, will retain its current name, at least for now.
It is expected to bring more than 8,000 competitors and more than 20,000 dog fanciers, spectators and vendors to Providence
