7.6.2004

On Thursday, July the 8th, Providence College coaches will join the mass exodus from campuses around the country to evaluate AAU talent from Florida to California, Las Vegas to New York, and from Texas to New England. 2004 rosters should basically be settled and readying themselves for the quickly approaching new year.

At PC, All-American Ryan Gomes has given up his quest to join the League for one more year, five freshmen who played last season from Pickens, South Carolina to Marion, Massachusetts have already made their ways to the corner of River Avenue and Eaton Street to try to earn their place in the eyes of the coaches, and in the eyes of Friar fans. Along with the freshman, redshirt Jeff Parmer will be making his initial appearance away from the practice floor and play under game conditions. Second year player, Herbert Hill, will be battling for minutes at the center position. Also, the possibility exists that we may see a JUCO All-American, Quentin Hosely don the Black and White this coming season.

The Friars have already received a verbal commitment from Jonathon Kale, a young and very strong power forward from St. Andrew's Prep and Pawtucket, RI. The Coaches will be looking to add to the 2005 roster this summer. Here are some of the talent they will be looking at.

CLASS OF 2005

8.9.2004

TYSON JOHNSON
Tyson Johnson is a 6-5, 220 pound small forward from St. Mary's High School in Manhasset, NY, who finished off his summer with a bang. The skilled forward made an impression with his development over the summer and now schools from two high major conferences are involved in his recruitment. South Florida and George Mason have offered a scholarship to this young man, and while Miami and Providence have not yet offered, they both are definitely in the picture. Tyson now sports a rapidly improving face up game, with range out to the arc and the ability to go by bigs off the dribble. Johnson has always been effective in the paint, with excellent footwork and great hands, but the added dimensions to his game has brought on the ACC and the Big East. Tyson previously had offers from Hofstra, UMass, New Hampshire and Rider. He's still considering these schools.

7.26.2004

FRANK TCHUISI
Frank Tchuisi is a 6' 10", 230 pound senior center from St. Benedict's High School in Newark, NJ who just completed two sessions, one at the the Eastern which followed his appearance at the ABCD Camp. The native of the Cameroons benefits from long arms and legs and excellent running ability. Frank moves tentatively and needs some game experience, but he has lots of good tools to help him grow basketball wise. Game experience may be hard to come by as St. Benedict's is not only loaded, but play better with a smaller lineup that can press more effectively. This season the Bees have 10 D1 players. Still, Frank is an intriguing prospect because of his size and raw tools. Last season, coming off the bench, Tchuisi averaged 10 points, eight rebounds and four blocks per game. He is drawing interest from Penn, Providence College, Richmond, Rutgers, Seton Hall and South Florida.

7.23.2004

DESMOND ADEDEJI
Desmond Adedeji is a legitimate 6' 9", 257 pound senior center from DeMatha High School in Washington, DC who is attracting a growing number of high profile programs, including Providence College. Desmond, a naturally large young man with a big frame and big body. He played well against WCAC opponents last season. Although Adedeji is not as quick and athletic as Maryland recruit, James Gist, Desmond gave him trouble because of his strength and toughness. Desmond averaged 10 points and eight rebounds last season as a junior for DeMatha. He has spent much time in the gym during this off season, and has improved on his quickness and is running the floor better. Also he is improving his shot blocking and his technique in getting to the glass. Adedeji is currently being recruited by Illinois, Kentucky, Dayton, Virginia Tech, in addition to the Friars

7.6.2004

PAUL JOHNSON
Paul Johnson, hailed as one of the best players in Washington, DC, is a 6' 6", 185 pound small forward from Gonzaga High School in our nation's capitol. Paul is a long, athletic player who is one of the most exciting dunkers in the DC area. He has outstanding court vision and is an excellent passer...both from the perimeter and as an interior post passer. He is a good mid range jump shooter with range stretching out to the three point arc. Presently, he is not an outstanding ball handler. Paul is aware of this and claims that he is working hard on this weakness this summer. He is also working on his body, getting bigger and stronger. Paul's father, Henry Johnson, is 6' 10" and played at Penn, under Chuck Daly at Penn. Johnson averaged 15 points and nine rebounds as a junior for Gonzaga. Paul has a 3.5 GPA and was recently inducted into the Gonzaga National Honor Society. He scored very well on his first attempt at the SAT, but Dad wants him to take it again. The schools recruiting Paul the hardest, at this point, are Miami, Rhode Island, Providence, George Washington, Stanford and Georgia. He already has an offer from George Washington.

JOHN OATES
You will find a blurb on the New Jersey big man in the 2004 section of the RN as the Friars have been looking at this 6' 10", 255 pound center from Don Bosco Prep in Ramsey, New Jersey for some time now. We had serious interest for awhile, then we backed off a little, but in recent months, John has improved causing the Friars to get back in the mix for this young man. Oates is a hard worker who isn't afraid to mix it up underneath. His defensive game has always been sound, and he has expanded his offensive work to earn attention from a number of D1 teams. It appears that despite the fact that while John has an offer from St. John's and is fully qualified, he will attend Blair Academy in Blairstown, NJ this coming season. He is also attracting interest from Providence, Purdue, Seton Hall, St. Joseph's and Rutgers. It is being reported that he might make his decision by August.

DANTE CUNNINGHAM
Dante Cunningham is a 6' 7", 215 pound power forward from St. John's College Prep School in Washington, DC who has carved his niche, mostly on the defensive end to warrant an offer from Georgetown, along with interest from St. John's, Pittsburgh, Villanova, Providence and Charlotte. Cunningham, a 17 year old youngster, is a bit of a tweener. It has been said that he is a power forward in a three man's body. Dante has not played on the perimeter at all, but the possibility of additional growth to 6' 9" will establish him at the four position at any level.

JAMELLE CORNLEY
Another tweener, Jamelle Cornley is a 6' 5", 230 pound power forward from Brookhaven High School in Columbus, Ohio. Jamelle is aware that major college coaches look at him as being a little short to play the four at a high level, and he has decided to go out and learn to play on the perimeter. Coaches have never questioned Cornley's heart and determination. Jamelle has been at the gym working on his ball handling and outside shot on a daily basis. There has been interest from Michigan, Louisville, Butler, Bowling Green, Vanderbilt, Wright State, Ohio State, Providence and Cleveland State. The Friars have made a trip to Brookhaven to see Jamelle work out. They will continue to evaluate him throughout the summer.

CHRIS LUTZ
A friend and teammate of Friar target, Chad Millard, Chris Lutz is a 6' 2", 185 pound shooting guard currently playing at Brewster Academy in Brewster, New Hampshire. A deadeye shooting specialist, Lutz shows a quick release on his jumper, catching and shooting with some proficiency from the perimeter, but he is not averse to shooting off the dribble. Chris has drawn interest from a number of major college programs including Purdue, Wisconsin, Providence, St. Bonaventure, Virginia, Boston College and St. John's.

BEN WALKER
Ben Walker is a 6' 7", 195 pound combo forward from Lehi High School in Lehi, Utah. The rising senior is long and lean, has good footwork with decent skills. Walker, named to the Utah Class 3-A All-State First Team this year, averaged 15 points and eight rebounds per game. Somewhat of a sleeper, Walker has received some interest from Long Beach State, UC Santa Barbara, Cal Poly, Utah State, Utah, Texas Tech and Providence College.

AHMAD NIVINS
Ahmad Nivins is a very athletic 6' 9", 215 pound forward from St. Anthony's High School in New Jersey who has only been playing basketball for a couple of years, so he is somewhat raw...especially on the offensive end. Ahmad is a good shot blocker who runs the floor well. In his short time as a basketball player, Ahmad has offers in hand from Rutgers, Seton Hall, St. Joseph's and St. Bonaventure. In addition, this long and lean young man has been hearing from Virginia Tech, Providence, Rhode Island and Pittsburgh.

Updated 1.5.2004

The early signing period has come to a close with four signed letters of intent in the bank. Three are frontcourt players. Anthony Ivory, a 6-foot-9 300-pound C/F from Maryland, is known as "The Franchise" and may be the "biggest" Friar in many years. Randall Hanke, a 6-foot-10 C/F from New York City, can play inside and shoot from the perimeter. DeSean White, a 6-foot-7, 245-pound combo forward from Philadelphia, has a great handle for a big man, and loves to bang. Add to that a 5-foot-11, 175-pound PG from Baltimore by the name of Jajuan Robinson. "Ice" is different from our fine stable of backcourt players. Robinson will wreak havoc on defense while he can put up large numbers on the other end of the floor. His style of play has been compared to that of Nick Van Exel.

Four down, one to go! Who will number 5 be? What position will he play? That's the question that I asked back in late November following the early signing period....Well. it took much less time that I thought to get #5....Richard McKiver, a 6'3" combo guard originally from New Haven, CT, made an unofficial visit to the PC campus on December 21st, attended a game that evening at the Dunk, and did not leave before he made a verbal commitment to sign a National Letter of Intent with the Friars in the Spring.

So that makes five...the Friars will continue to keep tabs on unsigned prospects for 2004 while they are evaluating talent for our three available scholarships for 2005. As I learn about who these young men are, they will be added to the 2004 section of this notebook. Two names will be added today. The 2005 section will be added shortly.

Updated 4.28.2004

KENT TREBBIT
"Kenny Trebbit is 6-9--6-9 1/2, 235 pounds, and mean." Those were the exact words told to us the other day by Philadelphia high school guru, Amauro Austin about young Kent Trebbit, a very active junior power forward/center from Chester High School in Chester, PA.... Yes, the same Chester High that was home for Friar great, John Linehan. Amauro also said that most of the Big East, all of the Philly schools, and many ACC schools including those on Tobacco Road are recruiting this young man. Amauro added that Providence College may have a slight edge because of Kent's longtime friendship with incoming PC recruit, DeSean White. A good student, Kent can pick his school. Comfortable in the post, Kent is an outstanding rebounder and intimidator... but he also has range out to the perimeter. Kent will make an outstanding addition to any program in the country.

JONATHAN KALE
Jonathan Kale is a 6'8", 250 pound power forward, playing for St. Andrew's Prep School in Barrington, RI who has been awesome for Saints this season. The Pawtucket resident is a big game player and a very hard worker. He has also lost 40 pounds since September. Jonathan is being recruited by schools like Richmond, George Mason, Providence College, Rhode Island and Kent State. George Mason and Kent State have already offered scholarships to this young man. Scoring consistently with low post spin moves, rebound putbacks, and jumpers out to 15 feet, Kale has averaged a double-double for St. Andrew's.

HERBIE ALLEN
Herbie Allen is a 5' 11", 170 pound junior point guard who is showing his wares this season playing for Bishop Loughlin High School in Brooklyn, NY. Nicknamed The Quiet Assassin, Herbie has quickness, passing ability, long range shooting and defense. Those 6AM workouts in the Bronx at Gauchos Gym and the traveling to Florida, Tennessee and other locations with the Gauchos and Riverside Church have paid off. He told me that he's going to do the same things that he's always been doing, A very hard worker, Allen said that he still has to work on his game over the summer. He's improved every year but he knows that he has to continue to work hard. He has played against some of the top seniors in NYC, and has done extremely we. Against Georgia bound Sundiata Gaines, Herbie had a double-double....19 points and 10 assists. With interest coming from schools like Providence, Rutgers, St. John's, Drexel and others, Allen should be able to bring his skills to a top D1 program.

KIWAN SMITH
Kiwan Smith is a 6'7", 200 pound small forward, currently playing at Laurinburg Charter Prep School in North Carolina. Smith, a Schenectady, NY native, is a high flying athletic forward with a nice face up game, and a good nose for the ball on the offensive board. Before transferring to the North Carolina prep school, Kiwan played a year at Bishop Loughlin in Brooklyn where he averaged 27 points, 5.6 rebounds, 10.8 assists, and 2.5 blocks per game. This reclassified junior is currently receiving interest from Clemson, Florida State, Seton Hall and Providence College.

GREG JOHNSON
Greg Johnson is a 6', 173 pound point guard is a NYC native who is currently showing off his skills at The Holderness School in New Hampshire. "Playstation," as he is called by his friends, has the distinction of being the youngest player to ever been so honored with a nickname at the famous Rucker Park in NYC. At the time he was in the sixth grade and ranked #3 nationally at that grade level. He is know for his court vision and the ability to make his teammates better. Always impressive with his offensive skills, Johnson has also matured defensively. His shooting, passing and quickness are all high major caliber, but he is still learning to control that speed. He plays at one speed all the time and it's ultra fast, and there are times when that's not needed. If he can learn proper control, Greg has the tools to be an elite point guard at the college level. He is receiving interest from UMass, Rutgers, Manhattan, St. John's, Siena, Hofstra, Seton Hall and Providence College.

GERALD CARTER
Gerald Carter is a 6'5",190 pound wing player from The Holderness School in New Hampshire who is getting attention for a number of high major teams this season. The NYC native is currently hearing from Seton Hall, Boston College, Richmond, UMass, St. John's, as well as Providence College. On his way from New York to New Hampshire, Gerald made a slight detour in New Haven, leading the Hyde School to the Class S State title last year in Connecticut. Carter likes to back his defender down, getting a lot of 7 to 15 foot jumpers. At Holderness, this season, Gerald is averaging 16 points, six rebounds, and five assists per game.

KENDRIC PRICE
Kendric Price is a 6'7", 195 pound small forward who plays for Buckingham Browne and Nichols School in Boston, MA. An outstanding offensive player from the wing position, Kendric can shoot it and take it to the basket with his dribble. He is currently ranked # 35 in Rivals top 75 for the Class of 2005. At first glance you might not notice Kendric on the court. He is a pretty special player with the ability to drain perimeter jumpers, and also the skill to take it to the basket. Price said that he wants to get stronger. Right now he tips the scales at no more than 195, but is skill level is so high that he will have many high majors recruiting him over the summer. This past weekend he was a visitor at the PC/Seton Hall game at the Dunk. He already has an offer from URI, and is very interested in UConn, Syracuse, and Memphis. Rutgers, Seton Hall, Ohio State, Northeastern, UMass, Ohio University, and Boston College have previously been mentioned by Price. He will travel this summer with Metro Park AAU team out of Boston...the same program that Friar guard, Dwight Brewington played for.

OLUWASEYI OSENI
Oluwaseyi Oseni is a 6'9", 230 pound center who plays for Faith Christian Academy in Hurt, VA, but hails from Rochester, NY. Oseni is a very strong young man, very comfortable at both ends of the floor. He possesses passing skills, very crisp, accurate, and extremely quick. "Shay", as he is called by his friends, is averaging 12 points, 9 rebounds, and four blocks per game for Faith Christian, and is scheduled to attend this summer's ABCD camp. He currently is being looked at by Providence College, Fordham, Penn State, Richmond, George Mason, Virginia Tech, Hofstra, Campbell, Austin Peay, and Liberty.

CHAD MILLARD
Chad Millard, a young man from Trinity High School in Manchester, NH, is a concessus top 50 player in the Class of 2005 who the Friars have been recruiting since he was a freshman. Chad is a 6'8", 210 pound wing player who can score from anywhere on the floor. A tough matchup because he can take smaller wings inside, Chad can really stroke it from the perimeter. Millard has offers on the table from Missouri, Boston College, Purdue, Wisconsin, Notre Dame, and Providence College. He also likes Louisville, NC State, Florida, Nebraska, and Kansas.

DAVID HUERTAS
David Huertas, another top 50 recruit (#26 by Rivals) who the Friars are involved with for the 2005 season. David is a 6'4", 190 pound (and growing) wing player from Arlington Country Day in Jacksonville, Florida, who has impressed a number of high major coaches with his play and is already considering a number of big time offers. David knows how to play off screens, passes it well and has good court vision...plus, he can knock it down from 25 to 30 feet on a consistent basis. Huertas, originally from Puerto Rico, wears a size 17 shoe, has huge hands and is expected to end up at about 6-7 or 6-8. According to his AAU coach, David currently has a top five school list of Arizona, Florida State, Miami, Providence College, and URI....All have offers on the table. Additionally, offers have been made by Indiana and Northeastern. Florida and Michigan State are looking at him, but have yet to offer. Arizona is the current favorite.

COLIN MC INTOSH
Colin McIntosh is a 6'7", 195 pound junior combo forward from Northfield Mt. Hermon in Northfield, MA who is a serious sleeper in the Class of 2005. Colin, a Boston native, played three years at Boston College High School and was reclassified a junior when he transferred to Northfield this season. McIntosh is a consistent shooter from behind the arc, has decent athleticism, and is active around the hoop. But his biggest asset was his shooting stroke. Needing to add some strength for the next level, Colin doesn't seem to have gained much recognition out of New England. His recruitment has been limited to the Northeast...Providence College, Rutgers, URI and Northeastern. Colin played last summer with the BABC program, but is considering opportunities to suit up for the Gauchos and the New York Elite this coming summer. McIntosh sports a 3.0 GPA and has already scored an 1170 on his SAT.

The following four players appear in the 2004 section of this notebook, but is seems probable that all four will attend a prep school and be eligible for the Class of 2005.

JEFF ADRIEN
Jeff Adrien is a 6'6", 220 pound combo forward from Brookline High School in Brookline, MA who is in the process of extending his game out to the perimeter. Jeff has been seen as an undersized power forward because BABC, Jeff's summer team needs Jeff to play down low. However, this year at Brookline Coach Mark Fiedor has given Jeff the red light to work both inside and outside...and he is showing that he is on the way to being a player who will help a D 1 team from the perimeter, as well as bang the boards with the trees. He has developed a nice foul line jumper this season, and the ability to put the ball on the floor. He is currently hearing from Wright State (offer), Providence College, URI, Southern Illinois and Fordham. Adrien told me that he still needs to extend his shooting range and improve his ball handling. There is a very good chance that he will attend prep school after his senior year to work on all his skills.

ANDRE BLATCHE
Andre Blatche is a 6'11", 218 pound forward from Heninger High School in Syracuse, NY who is another top 50 Friar prospect in the Class of 2005 (#16 by Rivals). Blatche has a long body and is a very skilled player with a big upside. He handles the ball very well and is a good shooter. When your 6'11" and athletic, you become a big time college recruit and that's exactly what Andre is. He will, however, most likely have to spend a year in prep school. Andre is putting up some huge numbers at Heninger, currently averaging 23.2 points, 17.8 rebounds, and 7.8 blocks per game. Kansas, Syracuse, West Virginia, Georgetown and Providence College are all pursuing him because he may make a commitment before heading to prep school.

WILLIAM HARRIS
William Harris is a 6'6", 230 pound wing player from Redemption Christian Academy in Troy, NY, is a member of the Class of 2005 who has drawn interest from a variety of D 1 programs. A native of the Corona neighborhood of Queens, Harris spent his freshman and sophomore years at Christ the King HS in Middle Village, NY before transferring last season to Redemption, and was reclassified as a member of the Class of 2005 before this school year. William has an excellent basketball body and good upper body strength. A solid ball handler, he can knock down the mid range jumper. He is being shown interest from Richmond, Syracuse, Hofstra, Rider, Vanderbilt, Manhattan, Xavier and Providence College. He carries a 3.3 GPA and has scored 760 on the SAT, which projects as qualified under the NCAA's sliding scale.

GEARY CLAXTON
Geary Claxton, is a 6'5, 200 pound senior swingman from Hill Regional Career High School in New Haven, CT who will attend prep school next season. Geary, considered one of Connecticut's top players averaged 21.6 points and 9 rebounds per game last season at Career HS. Claxton played last season for Wayne Simone and the Connecticut Select AAU team. He is well known for his ball handling, an outstanding jumper, and a propensity for banging for rebounds. A first team all stater by both the Hartford Courant and New Haven Register, Geary is currently being scouted by some high major schools in the area, such as Syracuse, Providence College, Quinipiac, Notre Dame, UConn and Princeton.

MARCUS COUSIN
Marcus Cousin is a 6'9", 220 pound center from Randallstown High School in Randalllstown, MD who is drawing attention from a number of big time programs, including Michigan State, Nebraska, Charlotte, Fordham, Seton Hall and Providence College. How did a relatively unknown player from Baltimore County suddenly get on the radar screens of Big Ten, Big East and Big Twelve colleges? Marcus has really turned it around in the last year. His coach said that Cousin is 220 pounds and will get bigger and stronger. Anonymous sources have said that he still needs work, but he reminds scouts of Josh Boone, but a year behind him....It has been said that Marcus, at the end of his senior year is comparable to Josh at the end of his junior season. If he can grow to Boone's level, he will certainly make an impact in D1.

QUINTEN HOSLEY
Quinten Hosley is a 6'8", 210 pound small forward from Lamar Community College in Colorado. He was a First Team Juco All-American this past year. This New York City native verballed to St. John's in the Fall, but it now looks like Norm Roberts, the new head coach of the Johnnies may be looking for bigger fish. Hosley has had a long time relationship with members of the Friar staff and has recently said that if The Red Storm is not interested, he likes PC.. This excellent wing passer sets up the dribble drive with a consistent jumper from the arc. He can play at or above the rim around the hoop. He still has some academic problems and may not be available until the second semester... but don't be surprised if this young man ends up in the Black and White.

WYNTON WITHERSPOON
Wynton Witherspoon is a very highly thought of 6'6", 180 pound small forward from Berkimar High School in Georgia who has attracted interest from schools like Georgia, North Carolina State, Boston College, Virginia Tech, UAB, Penn State and Providence College. Wynton is a scorer who dribbles quickly to get to the basket, uses fakes cerebrally near the hoop and is a good jump shooter to three-point territory. Scouts love the way he does the little but necessary things, such as diving for loose balls and finding the long rebound, anticipating wisely on defense in order to nab steals, and reliably hitting clutch free throws. His athleticism is apparent, but his forte is his strength with the basics.

MARK TYNDALE
Mark Tyndale is a 6'5", 195 pound senior small forward from Simon Gratz High School in Philadelphia, PA. Getting the most interest from Ohio State, Temple, Rhode Island, Providence College, St. Joe's, LaSalle and East Carolina, Mark can go to many of the top programs in the Northeast. Tyndale can do his damage both along the perimeter and in the paint. He can hit his jumper out to three point range and he can power to the basket. For the Friars to have continued interest in this young man, an opening will have to occur.

TOMMY HAMMONDS
Tommy Hammonds is a 6'4". 200 pound senior wing player at Montrose Christian in Maryland who is drawing attention from Colorado State, Wichita State, LaSalle, Providence College, East Carolina and others. Having good size for a wing, Hammonds can shoot the three and can take it to the hoop and finish with a dunk. Very athletic, Tom still needs to be a little more consistent in both effort and play. A resident of Rockville, MD, Hammonds is the son of former Georgia Tech standout, To Hammonds, Sr. He is a shooter with a fine release and he gets it off quickly. He also has the ability to pass with good results and court savvy.

JEROME HABEL
Jerome Habel is a 6'9", 210 pound center/forward from the Marriott Hospitality Public Charter High School in Washington, D.C. who is thought of as a big-time player with a number of big-time programs interested in him. Jerome Habel is a stud! Jerome gets more out of his 6-9 body than most kids bigger than him. He’s long, blocks a ton of shots and nabs tough rebounds in traffic. Schools have been hesitant to go hard after him because of academics but from what we’ve seen on the court the last two years, he is definitely high-major. Habel averaged a triple double last season at scoring 20 points, pulling 12 rebounds and blocking 11 blocks a game and has a short hook shot down to a science. Cincinnati, Florida State, Houston, and Providence College are all keeping an eye on this spring signee.

EDWIN OFORI-ATTAH
Edwin Ofori-Attah is a 6'4", 205-pound shooting guard from Statesville Christian High School in North Carolina, via Germany, had been flying under the recruiting radar because he did not play this past summer in America, but played for the German Junior National Team. After his recent scoring outbursts against quality opponents such as Mt. Zion Christian Academy (45 points) and the Italian Junior National Team (54 points), has attracted looks from a number of high major programs. He recently scored 71 points to set the North Carolina single game scoring mark. Oklahoma, Arkansas, Vanderbilt, Davidson, Clemson, and Providence College have all made the trek to North Carolina to see the young man show off his talents.

11.24.2003
SHAWN JAMES
Shawn James is a 6'8 1/2", 210 pound forward from Brooklyn, NY. Shawn, in his second year of organized basketball at Notre Dame Prep in Fitchburg, MA, is an athletic shot blocker drawing interest from a number of high major programs. James is raw, especially on the offensive end, but when you talk about upside, Shawn has it. His first year of ball was played at Redirection School, but didn't actually lace his shoes until the IS8 tournament in which people questioned his age. James recently turned 20, which forced the trip to ND Prep. He is a very athletic player with the ability to rebound and block shots. St. Peter's and Niagara have shown high interest, while St. John's, Auburn and Providence College have indicated interest and will watch him throughout his year in Fitchburg. If Shawn can continue to add size and strength and show progress in the classroom, he may be a huge pickup for someone in the spring.

11.13.2003
JESUS VERDEJO
Verdejo is a 6-foot-4, 200-pound wing guard who played for Miami Christian of Florida last season. Verdejo was slated to go to Temple, but reopened his recruiting when he fell short with his test score and he enrolled at Winchendon Academy. A native of Puerto Rico, who played with the Puerto Rican National Team last summer, Jesus is a deadly shooter who can defend, run the floor and jump through the roof. Led Miami Christian to the Florida state 1-A championship, along with a 38-2 record. He's still interested in the Owls, but is also looking at Baylor, South Alabama, Richmond and East Carolina, along with the Friars.

10.22.2003
A.D. VASSALO
A.D. Vassalo is a 6'5 1/2", 200 pound small forward who played on the Puerto Rican Junior National Team in Greece this past summer. Vassalo sneaked up on college coaches over the past year, playing at Faith Christian Academy in Hurt, VA, and with the Lynchburg Hoops AAU team over the past two summers. A.D. averaged 19.8 points and 10 rebounds per game as a junior at Faith Christian. He has already taken unofficial visits to both Virginia and Virginia Tech. Vassalo has just recently taken his SAT and as soon as he has a score, he will take official visits. Don't be surprised to see him at Alumni Hall soon for a visit if he gets his score. A deadeye shooter, he can shoot it from deep and also off the dribble and off screens. Vassalo had drawn interest from Richmond (who has offered), Virginia, Virginia Tech, Providence and NC State.

CHRIS ALVAREZ
A 6-8 power forward out of Blair Academy in New Jersey, Chris spent the last year in the shadow of teammates Charlie Villanueva and Luol Deng, but seems ready to claim his own attention this season. Playing for the New Jersey Demons, Alvarez attracted a lot of attention over the summer. Born in Cuba, Alvarez played his sophomore year at Miami's Archbishop Carroll, then transferred to Blair. Very athletic and energetic, Alvarez can mix it up underneath as well as step out to hit mid-range jumpers. He'll visit Dayton the weekend of Oct. 4, and the Flyers are his favorite, but if he doesn't verbal, he'll also look to set up visits with the Friars, along with Rutgers and Boston College. He carries a 3.7 GPA.

ROB PRESSEY
Rob is a 6-foot-7 forward from Southern Maryland Christian Academy in White Plains, Md., who has recently come to the attention of a number of schools, including Providence. Pressey was one of the top big men at session 5 of the Eastern Invitational, and had a statistical line of 9 points and 3 boards in the top camp All-Star game. A good student, Pressey hasn't taken any visits or received any firm offers yet, and reportedly is looking for a good academic situation with a school that has a good computer graphics program or computer engineering program. Other schools considering Pressey, along with the Friars, are Radford, Coastal Carolina, and Liberty.

XAVIER KILBY
A 6-foot-8, 215-pound combo forward out of Desert Vista High School in Phoenix, Ariz., Kilby is a relative unknown in the world of college basketball recruiting, but those who do know about him rave about his skills. A strong defensive player, Kilby uses his body well to rebound and block shots, and can guard anyone on the floor. He can step out and score with a pull-up jumper, and take it to the glass, and although not flashy, is a hard worker with a winning ethic. He averaged 16 points and 8 rebounds last year, and was named 5A Central First-Team All-Conference and All-Region. As a member of the Hoopnuts AAU program from Central Florida, Calathes has drawn some attention from some high major programs while playing in the Super Showcase Tournament at nearby Disney World. A few weeks ago interest was coming from schools like Rollins, Stetson, Elon, and Mercer. The past two weeks have brought interest from St. Joseph's, South Florida, Providence College and Yale. Alex Galindo is a 6-foot-7, 195-pound small forward from St. Benedict's Prep School in Newark, N.J., who reportedly has been receiving interest from a number of high major programs for the past year. Galindo is a real savvy player, turning in an MVP performance as St. Benedict's captured the 2002 Slam Dunk To The Beach title. He has a great feel, makes shots and passes well. An interesting wing player who can pump in three-pointers when his game is running on four wheels, Galindo averaged 15 points and seven rebounds per game last season for St. Benedict's. Galindo, who claims to be "still open," has interest in UConn, Florida International, NC State, Rutgers, Seton Hall, Tennessee, Utah, Texas El Paso, and "all Big East Schools except Syracuse and Georgetown." Recent reports from Las Vegas said that members of the PC staff were on hand to watch Galindo.

The word from Hill is that he will really benefit from this year at Trinity. He still has a lot to learn about positioning and needs more time in the weight room, but if he improves as much as he did over the last year, the sky's the limit. Among the schools who are showing interest are Virginia, Penn State, Dayton, St. Bonaventure, Charleston, Hofstra, George Mason, Ohio and Providence College.

Posey will spend the summer playing for the Richmond Squires AAU program. A shooter with great range (he recently hit seven three-pointers in one game at the Texas Classic), Posey can also take a defender off the dribble. He wants to improve his movement on defense and speed. Not afraid to take the big shot in the clutch, Posey has the stuff to be a big-time player. He can shoot and can rebound well for his size. Although he is leaning toward West Virginia, Posey reportedly has had looks from Michigan State, Indiana, NC State, James Madison, Clemson, East Carolina, Duquesne, Maryland and Providence College.

As a freshman at San Jacinto, Robinson averaged 8.4 points and 6.4 rebounds for a team that reached the NJCAA final game in 2003. KOJO MENSAH
Kojo Mensah is a 6-foot-1, 180-pound combo guard from Bishop Loughlin High School in Brooklyn, N.Y., who first was listed in the 2003 section of the RN. Mensah, a recent visitor to Providence College, needs another year to get his academics in order, and will attend Notre Dame Prep in Fitchburg, Mass., during the coming season. Mensah has something about him that attracts you to his game. He makes sound passes, the occasional spectacular assist, and is always in the mix making plays. He averaged 22 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three steals per game at Bishop Loughlin. Mensah lists Dayton, St. Joseph's, Hofstra, Providence College, St. John's and Seton Hall.

TREY DUDY
Trey Dudy is a 6-foot-9, 235-pound center/power forward from Stonebridge Prep High School in Tarzana, Calif. The rising senior is a player who is a late bloomer. Dudy started slowly, but in the past six months has made great strides in developing his game. Much improved, he has become an able rebounder and defender. His offensive game still needs work, but he is getting serious interest from a number of mid to high majors. He is reportedly being looked at this summer by Loyola-Marymount, UC Santa Barbara, Pepperdine, New Mexico, San Diego State and Providence College.

A rising senior, Dolan transferred to St. Thomas More following his sophomore year. He is a native of St. Johnsville, N.Y. He's a scrappy player who is not averse to battling inside. He does all the dirty work and likes to play the post. Dolan reportedly has received recruiting interest from a number of D1 programs. LaSalle, URI and Siena have offered, plus he is being evaluated by the likes of Marquette, Providence, Rutgers, St. John's, Canisius and Eastern Kentucky.

6.5.2003

LORENZO MATA
Lorenzo Mata is a 6-foot-9, 230-pound power forward from South Gate High School in South Gate, Calif., who in only his third year playing basketball, is attracting attention from schools all over the country, including the Friars of Providence College. That attention started on the left coast from schools like CS Fullerton, Long Beach St, Loyola Marymount, Oregon, Pepperdine, and UC Irvine. Mata, on the strength of a breakout junior season, is seeing his recruiting stock move up into the high-mid-major and high-major levels. The list has expanded to include such high-major programs like UCLA, New Mexico, Texas Tech, Providence College and Miami. Oregon and Texas Tech have already offered. Mata is a very good shot blocker and rebounder with a developing offensive game. Just last night in the Pangos Classic in California, Mata had 26 points against 6-foot-11 Todd Follmer. He was excellent around the hoop and played a very savvy game. Mata is an inside player who has a soft shot from 10 to 15 feet. He has the capability to be a dominant type of player. In one game last season he scored 39 points, grabbed 25 rebounds and blocked six shots.

RASHON CLARK
Rashon Clark is a 6-foot-6, 215-pound senior power forward from Beach Channel High Schools in Queens, N.Y., who has been doing good work for the Long Island Panthers on the AAU circuit this spring. Rashon, a fantastic leaper, skies high and gets off the ground quickly, will attend Bridgton Academy next season to get his academics in order. Clark is a very active athlete around the ball and makes athletic plays. He will get his share of rebounds and put backs, and has a knack for grabbing a lot of loose balls. Clark is reportedly still being evaluated by Seton Hall, Penn State, Miami, Providence, URI, Hofstra and CCSU. He will be a good role player at a mid-major level.

D. J. FIELDS
D. J. Fields is a 5-foot-11, 165-pound point guard from Our Savior New America High School in Centereach, N.Y., who has been showing his wares this spring for the New York Elite AAU program. Fields, a native of Westbury, N.Y., can score in a number of ways. The offensive-minded lead guard can get to the basket, shoot the three and run a competent point. An excellent student, he carries an 84 average in the classroom and scored a 1060 on his SAT. Fields is just beginning to make a name for himself. Last season at Our Savior, he played sparingly for a loaded team, but next season, he should be an important cog for the Pioneers. Providence College will be monitoring his progress this spring and summer.

5.23.2003
LUKE BONNER
Luke Bonner is a 6-foot-10, 232-pound junior power forward from Trinity High School in Manchester, N.H., who is the brother of Florida big man, Matt Bonner. Luke, who has had limited competition on the AAU circuit prior to his junior year, will play this summer for the Granite State Raiders, coached by his high school coach, Frank Alosa. They will be at the Adidas Big Time Tournament in Las Vegas in late July. Bonner plays a physical and aggressive style when he's in the paint. Luke is reportedly catching the eye of URI, Xavier, Kansas, Missouri, UConn, Providence, Syracuse, Stanford and Florida. He has unofficially visited Stanford, Florida and URI. JEFF GREEN
Jeff Green is a 6-foot-8, 215-pound junior power forward from Northwestern High School in Hyattsville, Md., who showed his talents last weekend at the Southern Invitational Tournament, playing for the Metro All Stars. Green, who averaged 15 points and 11 rebounds per game for Northwestern this past season, had the game of his young career at the SIT when he scored 43 points and over 20 boards in a first game victory. Green is a mobile and very bouncy big man who can dominate on the inside and move out 15 to 17 feet and hit a jumper. He is a strong kid with good explosion off the floor. Jeff likes to play above the rim and get out in transition. He is a good rebounder and physical interior defender. Green is reportedly getting strong looks from LaSalle, Providence College, Old Dominion and Duquesne thus far, but it should not be long before others will come knocking.

JAJUAN ROBINSON
Jajuan Robinson is a 6-foot, 175-pound point guard from Washington, D.C., who played last season for Dunbar High School. Robinson, a senior, is heading for South Kent School in Connecticut next season to get his academics in order. Robinson is another player who brought his A game to the SIT last weekend. If he can continue to make perimeter shots the way he did in Virginia, he can look forward to attention from many high major programs. Thus far he has attention from Temple, St. John's, Providence and Maryland. Robinson is one of those guys who doesn't look big enough to compete at the high major level in college, but consistently beats guys that wind up there. Can make the big shot in the clutch and apply defensive pressure.

DONTAY TABBS
Dontay Tabbs is a 6-foot-9, 220-pound center/power forward from George Washington High School in Philadelphia who also will need a year of prep school to get his academics in order. Looked at as a borderline high major player, Tabbs has a few go-to moves in the post and has a nice touch from 12 feet and in. He is super athletic and very physical. Reports out of Philadelphia tell me that he is an aggressive and mean rebounder who must learn to channel emotions, however he can only improve. No pun intended, but schools that are keeping tabs on Dontay are Providence College, Rutgers, St. Joe's, LaSalle, Temple, and Seton Hall.

5.9.2003
ANTHONY IVORY,
For those Friar fans who are looking for that real BIG MAN, Anthony Ivory is a 6-foot-9, 340-pound junior center who played last season for National Christian Academy in Fort Washington, Md. Ivory, recuperating from a stress fracture in his shins, will transfer to Springbrook High School in Silver Spring, Md., to play his senior year with another Friar recruit, Folarin Campbell. Needless to say, Ivory is a huge presence inside. He did some damage against Terrence Roberts at the 2002 Weber Fall Invitational prior to his injury. Get him the ball on the blocks and he is efficient. Ivory will always need to shed some pounds -- he is currently at his highest weight because he basically was idle last season -- but he gets things done. His best playing weight appears to be 290. He was injured in just his second game of the 2002 season at National Christian. Dave Telep at Insider Hoops calls him a high major prospect and gives him four out of five stars.

ROBBIE SIMPSON
Robbie Simpson is a 6-foot-9, 215-pound junior power forward who plays for Mt. Zion Christian Academy in Durham, N.C., who is reportedly hearing from a number of high major programs this spring. Simpson, who transferred to Mt. Zion from Seneca High School in his native Louisville, Ky., has reportedly been recruited by Providence College, Miami, Louisville, Richmond, Kentucky, Western Kentucky, College of Charleston, Furman, and South Carolina. Simpson, an aggressive rebounder and shot blocker, played most of the season through nagging injuries, which showed heart and toughness.

ROY BRIGHT
Roy Bright is a 6-foot-6, 200-pound junior small forward from Mt. Zion Christian Academy in Durham, N.C., who is ranked 52 in the country by Rivals. Bright transferred to Mt. Zion from Northern Durham High School at the end of the year and played only two games for them, averaging nearly 15 points per game -- coming off the bench -- for the two games. This young stud is an offensive machine with many talents. He can rebound, pass, shoot free throws, hit the open three, and take over a game any time he likes. Some of the schools reportedly on his list are Tennessee, Clemson, Duke, UNC, Kentucky, Indiana, Florida, Cincinnati, Wake Forest, NC State, Providence College, URI, Marquette, UConn, and Texas.

TROY MATHIS
Troy Mathis is a high scoring 6-foot, 190-pound junior point guard from Laurinburg Charter High School in Laurinburg, N.C., who is one of the best pure shooters in the Class of 2004. A native of Raleigh, N.C., Mathis helped Raleigh's Finest reach the title game of the Charlie Weber Easter Hoop Festival. Scoring points in bunches is nothing new to Mathis, who accounted for 80 points in a regular season game this past season. On top of having one of the top shooting strokes in the Class of 2004, Mathis has a strong upper body and can finish his drives at the rim. He is reportedly interested in Xavier, East Carolina, Missouri, Oklahoma, Florida State, Clemson, Seton Hall, Providence College, and Memphis.

5.5.2003
ANDRE BLATCHE
Andre Blatche is a 6-foot-9, 215-pound power forward from Heninger High School in Syracuse, N.Y., who had an outstanding weekend at the Charlie Weber DC Capitol Invitational Tournament. Currently, Blatche is reportedly hearing from Providence, Syracuse, Xavier, West Virginia, Manhattan and Yale.

5.1.2003
JOHN OATES
John Oates is a big forward from Don Bosco Prep in Ramsey, N.J., and is gaining attention as he grows taller. Oates is a hard-working post who is fundamentally sound. He has a good frame to work with, and is willing to get physical underneath. Oates averaged 10 points and eight rebounds per game this season for a team with a number of Division 1 players on its roster. He is dead serious about his game and where basketball fits into his being. After all, the once gangly 6-foot-7, 195-pound 8th grader is now a 6-foot-10, 245-pound high school junior. St. John's, UConn, Kentucky, North Carolina, Michigan, Rutgers, Stanford, Providence College, Princeton, Richmond, American and Louisville have all reportedly shown interest.

TASHEED CARR
Tasheed Carr is a 6-foot-4 1/2 shooting guard from Mt. Zion Academy who has reportedly attracted interest from a number of high major programs this past season. Carr, a native of Philadelphia, played for University City High School until this past season, when he transferred to Mt. Zion. Carr has a great court sense and knows how to play, plus he rebounds well. He is a very physical guard who has also, at times, played the point. He loves to penetrate, absorb contact and finish. He has reportedly been receiving interest from Ohio State, Michigan, Providence, Indiana, Florida State, LaSalle, and George Washington. At Mt. Zion, Tasheed averaged 15 points, four rebounds, and 3 assists per game.

JIHAD MUHAMMED
Jihad Muhammed is a 5-foot-11, 180-pound scoring point guard from San Jacinto Junior College in Pasadena, Texas, who as a JUCO freshman led his team to a national championship. Oklahoma, Maryland, Providence and Florida State are just some of the high major programs who are reportedly going to give this Plainfield, N.J. native a hard look this summer. Muhammed averaged 16 points, three rebounds and three assists per game this past season for his team which finished 27-10. He scores points in bunches, and thanks to his quickness, he keeps defenders off balance.

4.28.2003
RODNEY EDGERSON
Rodney Edgerson is a 6-foot-6, 195-pound lanky small forward from Woodruff High School in Peoria, Illinois who attracted interest from high major programs this past season. Rodney knows how to play the game and is a terrific instinctive rebounder. Rodney, the top scorer in the Peoria area also is an above par defender. A good athlete, a competitor, who handles the ball well, Edgerson is playing this summer for the Ft. Sooy AAU team. Rodney's current interest is coming from Indiana, Kansas State, NC State, Providence College, URI, Bradley, Creighton, Southern Illinois, and UNC-Wilmington. Rodney stalks the baseline and hits the glass for second chance points. He has range out to three point territory, but will need to fine tune and quicken his release from beyond the arc at the next level.

4.15.2003
GERRY CORCORAN
Gerry Corcoran is a 6-foot-5, 190-pound junior shooting guard from Norwell High School in Norwell, Mass., who will spend his senior year at Worcester Academy. Corcoran, the grandson of the late Boston Globe columnist, Will McDonough, is a lethal shooter from the perimeter. Corcoran made Norwell school history this past February, when he scored his 2,000th career point. Gerry has been getting recruiting interest from UNC-Wilmington, Boston University, Holy Cross and Providence College. At Worcester Academy, Corcoran will work on becoming tougher and more consistent at both ends of the floor.

4.11.2003
DEXTER GRAY
Dexter Gray is a 6-foot-6, 215-pound junior power forward from Mt. Vernon High School in New York who has attracted attention from a number of elite programs this season. Beside the Friars, Gray has reportedly heard from St. John's, Seton Hall, Syracuse, Illinois, Boston College, Iona, and Richmond. Gray possesses a solid frame and good length. He seals his man well, and can knock down the midrange jumper. Gray runs the floor very well and is fundamentally sound. He averaged 19 points and 12 rebounds per game this season for the runner-up team in the New York State Tournament. Gray will also play this summer for the Riverside Church AAU team.

4.10.2003
GAVIN GRANT
Gavin Grant is a 6-foot-6, 195-pound small forward from St. Raymond's High School in the Bronx, N.Y., whose game is intriguing for a number of reasons, and programs at the highest level have taken notice. Grant's ball handling ability at 6-foot-6 is probably what makes him most intriguing. He has run the point for stretches at St. Ray's. He not only has a competent handle, but he can shed defenders with his crossover, showing the quickness of a guard. Grant slashes for points, and has shown that he is pretty consistent shooting from the perimeter. He can hit the three and is reliable from midrange. With his wiry frame, he needs to add strength for the next level. His on-the-ball defense needs to be more consistent, but he has outstanding lateral quickness for a player of his size. Grant will attend the ABCD camp and travel with the New York Ravens this summer. Currently he is ranked #80 by Bob Gibbons and # 51 by Hoopscoop. Gavin has indicated that he's been getting the most interest from UConn, Villanova, NC State, Syracuse, St. John's, Providence, and Georgetown among others.

4.7.2003
BRIAN LAING

For example, Inside USA has him at 46 and Rivals has him at 29 in their latest list. He is one of the more explosive run-and-jump athletes in the junior class. Laing is an explosive leaper capable of playing above the rim, and has the ability to leap over post players for dunks. He gets off the floor very quickly. He plays mostly in the post, so it remains to be seen whether he can stroke it from long range with consistency. In this respect, he is somewhat of a tweener. With a solid frame and good strength, Laing is a very capable defender. At this point, he is reportedly getting serious interest from Illinois, Seton Hall, Richmond (where he has taken an unofficial visit), and Providence College.

JOAKIM NOAH
Joakim Noah, the son of former French tennis great, Yannick Noah, is a 6-foot-10, 200-pound junior center from Poly Prep in Brooklyn, N.Y., who is reportedly attracting interest from a number of high major programs, including Providence College, Pitt, Michigan, Miami, Kent State, Louisville, and several other Big East Schools. Providence has reportedly already offered. Playing for the LI Panthers on Friday, Joakim scored 19 points and played stingy defense in leading the Panthers to a 59-52 victory over Sam Rines in the Spring Fling Classic. Noah will transfer to Lawrenceville Prep in New Jersey for his senior year. This past season he averaged 24 points, 12 rebounds, and five blocks per game at Poly. Needing more strength to compete at the Big East level, Noah is very effective offensively, moving without the ball and, with a soft touch, finishing around the basket. Defensively, he has a huge wing span and is efficient patrolling the paint and blocking and altering shots.

JOSH WRIGHT
Josh Wright is a highly sought after true point guard from Proctor High School in Utica, N.Y., who has reportedly caught the attention of a large number of high major programs this past season. The 6-foot, 165-pound fireball averaged 25 points, eight assists and three steals per game this past year at Proctor, a team that finished the season 20-2. Wright, who is ranked 75th in the country by Hoopscoop, is a player who is known for his strength that helps him get to the rim among the trees, and his basketball savvy in running an offense. He is reportedly being looked at by Syracuse, Boston College, UConn, Ohio State, Pitt, Seton Hall, St. John's, and South Florida, as well as the Friars. Wright will travel this summer with the Long Island Panthers AAU team.

JARED GAITHER
Jared Gaither is a 6-foot-9. 285-pound center from Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Greenbelt, Md. His coach at Roosevelt commented that his weight might be a little conservative, but he will begin an off-season conditioning program next week. Gaither averaged 10 points, 10 rebounds and four block per game. He is not yet a finished product, needing to work on his conditioning and some skills. But he is a huge young man, has some skills, and likes to compete. Maryland is where he wants to go, but so far Jared has not seen a great deal of interest from the Terps. He is reportedly being evaluated by Florida State, Providence and Seton Hall.

BRODY ANGLEY
Brody Angley is a 5-foot-11, 170-pound junior point guard from Enterprise High School in Redding, Calif., who has reportedly been hearing from Stanford, Santa Clara, UC Santa Barbara, Utah, Cal Poly and Providence, among others. His recruiting is still open and will take his time in making a decision. He does well academically and qualifying should not be an issue for him.

FOLARIN CAMPBELL
Folarin Campbell is a 6-foot-3, 190-pound combo guard from Springbrook High School in Silver Spring, Md., who has had an outstanding season leading his team to the final game of the state championship before losing. A team oriented player, Folarin hit 52 percent of his two point field goal attempts, 40 percent of his three-point attempts, and 78 percent of his free throws. He can score off the dribble in addition to his jump shot. He is reportedly being looked at by Maryland, West Virginia, Georgetown, Delaware, Virginia Commonwealth, Georgia Tech, and Providence College. He has unofficially visited Delaware, Georgetown, and VCU. Folarin was scheduled to visit Providence with James Gist at the Seton Hall game, but he had to play in a playoff game that day and will reschedule.

I would like to thank Joe Morelli of the New Haven Register for the information used to complete this blurb.
Geary Claxton is a 6-foot-4, 190-pound junior swingman from Hill Regional Career High School in New Haven, Conn., whose budding basketball career is reaching new heights. This 16-year-old athlete -- he turns 17 on July 2 -- is averaging 21.8 points per game and rebounds well, especially on the offensive glass. He had 30 of his team's 45 points in a playoff loss to the Hyde Leadership School, another New Haven school. "As a junior, he is one of the best players in the area, period," Morelli said. "I am considering him for my top 12 in the state first team, but no worse than second team." Claxton is carrying a 3.0 in the classroom, and has a great family who can help lead him to the right place. He has already drawing interest from Syracuse, Notre Dame, Princeton, Quinnipiac, as well as Providence College, where he paid an unofficial to on March 8. Geary will play AAU ball this season for Wayne Simone and Connecticut Select.

KEITH BENJAMIN
Keith Benjamin is a 6-foot-2, 183-pound junior shooting guard from Mt. Vernon High School in New York who is reportedly being evaluated by Virginia, NC State, Seton Hall, Villanova, Illinois, Ohio State and Providence. The Cavaliers are reported as being close to offering. Mt. Vernon, the alma mater of UConn's Ben Gordon, is a powerhouse that reached the Class A final game this past weekend at Glen Falls, but lost to McQuaid Regional of Rochester. Benjamin averaged 17 points, five rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game this season.

WILL DANIELS
Will Daniels is a 6-foot-6-1/2, 200-pound small forward from FDR High School in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., who has reportedly attracted attention from a number of college programs in the Northeast. Daniels, who has completed his junior year at FDR, averaged 24 points and 16 rebounds per game. Nicknamed "Will the Thrill," Daniels is the real deal. He can score and defend, and still is growing -- he already has a wingspan that opponents have said is like nothing ever seen before. Daniels scored 29 points in his final game this season, to go over the 1,000 career point mark for a team that finished 8-12. He is reportedly being recruited by Syracuse, Siena, Ohio State, St. John's, Villanova, and Providence College. Daniels has earned All-County, All-Section, and All-League accolades already this season.

2.9.2003
JEROME JOHNSON
Jerome Johnson is a 6-foot-8, 220-pound junior big forward from Bullis High School in Potomac, Md., who has caught the eyes of a number of high major programs over the past year. Johnson, who carries the nickname "stretch," is a true power forward who has some low-post scoring skills. He can grab rebounds and block shots, even though he is not blessed with great athleticism. Johnson is a bullish forward with a great body who looks like he is already hitting the weights. Offense is a work in progress, but he has long arms and chases rebounds. As a sophomore last year, Johnson averaged 15 points, 10 rebounds and seven blocks per game at Bullis. He has no offers at this point, but is reportedlt being looked at by Maryland, Utah, Wake Forest, Georgetown, Michigan, Notre Dame, Penn State, Virginia and George Mason, as well as the Friars. He visited Providence for the UConn game this past Saturday.

RONALD RAMON
Ronald Ramon is a 6-foot, 175-pound junior shooting/combo guard from All Hallows High School in the Bronx who is one of the top pure shooters in the Class of 2004. Ramon has a quick release and can score off the dribble. He moves well without the ball and knows how to get open and can finish at the rim. Ronald has reportedly seen interest from programs up and down the East coast, including Providence College, Seton Hall, NC State, UConn, St. John's, St. Bonaventure, George Mason and Notre Dame.

JEFF XAVIER
Jeff Xavier is a 6-foot-2, 165-pound junior point guard from St. Raphael's Academy in Pawtucket who may become the first Friar out of an R.I. high school in 10 years. Xavier plays for a St. Ray's team that has competed for the state championship for the past few years and is currently the defending champions. He had been overshadowed by teammates like Evan Meekins, Mike Williams and Josean Vega, but this is Xavier's team. He has blown up like you wouldn't believe. He averaged 8 points as a freshman, 9.4 as a sophomore, but as a junior, he is averaging 30 ppg, 10 pts more than his nearest challenger. Xavier has scored more than 30 points in 8 games, the highest being 49 against Cambridge Ringe & Latin. He has a feather-soft jumper and a shooter's mentality, hitting 56 3-pointers in just 12 games. Xavier is more than a shooter -- extremely quick and athletic, he averages 4.4 steals and 4 assists per game. He is an outstanding passer who sees the entire court, and leads his team with 7.4 rebounds per game. In addition to Providence College, Jeff is reportedly being looked at by URI, Western Kentucky, Rider, Eastern Carolina and UMass.

CHARLES BURCH
Charles Burch is a 6-foot-6, 210-pound junior power forward who is playing for Tabor Academy in Marion, Mass. Charles attacks the boards and can also step outside to knock down a jumper to about a 15- to 17-foot range. Although only 6-foot-6, he has two major assets: very long arms plus a reputation for being a tough kid. He needs to improve his ball handling skills. Burch is considered to have a big upside and is reportedly being evaluated by Boston College, UMass, Providence College, URI, Rider, Boston University and Manhattan.

SEBASTIAN TELFAIR
Sebastian Telfair is a 6-foot, 175-pound junior point guard who I am very surprised to be writing about. Telfair, or "Bassy" as he is called, is possibly the best point guard in the country in the Class of 2004. Cousin of former Friar, Jamel Thomas and NBA player, Stephon Marbury, Bassy included Providence College in a list of colleges that he is interested in -- a fact that truly surprised me. Although his coming to Providence is a long shot, I am impressed that the Friars are venturing out to take a shot a player who will probably end up in the NBA after a year -- two at the outside. We'll see how it comes down, but don't lose any sleep over it.

1.14.2003
KHALIQ GANT
Khaliq Gant is a 6-foot-2 junior wing guard from Tabor Academy. The Georgia native, who would prefer to play his college ball in a warm weather climate, has a reputation for being a deadly shooter from three-point territory. His game has progressed this season to where he is taking the ball more and more to the rim, and is finishing. Last week in a game in Connecticut, Gant hit five threes, beside scoring on three drives to the basket. This past summer, Gant opted to work on his strength and it has shown in his game. He now is able to finish in the paint against bigger and stronger players, something he wasn't attempting to do a year ago. His bread and butter still comes from the perimeter. He hit 14 three pointers in a pair of games last month in Florida, and is one of the top shooters in the nation from behind the arc. The 17 year old has heard from Georgia Tech, Providence College and Indiana.

DAYSHAUN WRIGHT
Dayshaun Wright, nephew of former Friar, Steve Wright, is a 6-foot-7, 225-pound small forward from Fowler High School in Syracuse, N.Y., who is ranked as the 27th best player in the 2004 class by RivalsHoops. Wright is a big time player who has all the right moves on offense and is known to play tough inside. He can create off the dribble and shoot from the perimeter. Syracuse is his favorite at this time, but he also has a long list of schools that interest him. That list includes Cincinnati, UConn, Florida State Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Michigan, Providence College, Seton Hall, and Texas. Wright is currently averaging 23 points and 11 rebounds a game at Fowler.

ROBERT McKIVER
Robert McKiver is a 6-foot-3, 185-pound shooting guard from Hillhouse High School in New Haven, Conn., who has attracted interest from Providence College this past fall. McKiver, who played at Hillhouse in his freshman year, is back in Connecticut after his family made stops in Atlanta and Washington over the last couple of years. McKiver is a solid passer with great range. He can score off the dribble and screens. He finishes equally well with both hands. Named as one of the top 200 players by Street & Smith last year, he has been named as an All-American honorable mention pick this season. In addition to the Friars, DePaul, UMass, UConn and Hofstra have shown interest.

WILLIAM HARRIS
William Harris is a 6-foot-5, 232-pound swingman from Redemption Christian Academy in Troy, N.Y., whose stock is rising this season. The native of Queens, N.Y., is a brawny wing who is blessed with a terrific frame and a reliable, long-range jump shot with good rotation. In the consolation round of the recent Boys Club Tournament in New York, Harris scored 25 points, including five three-pointers, in Redemption's 71-62 loss to Trinity-Pawling. Harris played at Christ the King and with the New York Gauchos the past two seasons. He will likely play with Team Real Scout this summer, coached by Nathan Blue. He has heard from Providence, South Florida, Rider, Richmond, Fordham, and Manhattan. Harris has an 88 average in the classroom.

AJ PRICE
AJ Price is a 6-foot-1, 165-pound combo guard from Amityville Memorial High School in Amityville, N.Y., who is currently ranked 32 in the country by PrepStars. Price teamed with Jason Fraser to win multiple state titles at Amityville. Fraser might have left, but Amityville still has star power -- only now it is in the backcourt. Price is a scorer and is very good at it. However, he can also pass the basketball with success in transition and create his own shot off the dribble. He regularly makes the correct decision, finding the open teammate or making the extra pass on the break. Price is being looked at by St. John's, Villanova, Georgia Tech, Ohio State, NC State. and Providence College.

12.23.2002
TAJ FINGER
Taj Finger is a 6-foot-8, 185-pound junior small forward from Fox Lane High School in Bedford, N.Y., who has attracted early attention for Division 1 colleges this season. Finger can handle the ball on the perimeter and can flash out to defend smaller players on the wing. He also has decent perimeter touch for a big man. Finger, who is working to increase his strength and leaping ability, is also working on shooting the ball off the dribble and developing a midrange shot off the glass. He is averaging 19 points and 10 rebounds per game over his first four games. He has already paid an unofficial visit to Providence College and is receiving interest from Richmond, Stanford, Wyoming, Delaware, Iona and Manhattan.

ADRIAN JOSEPH
Adrian Joseph is a 6-foot-7, 190-pound power forward from Bergen Catholic High School in Bergen, N.J. Joseph, a senior, will more than likely attend a prep school next season, placing him into the class of 2004. He is a long, lean forward. Has bounce to his game and will play above the rim. Looks like a mid- to high-major power forward heading into this season. Joseph does a good job of gliding through the lane for rebounds and defending on the wing. He was pivotal to Bergen Catholic's run to the Parochial A title last season, scoring a combined 25 points in its first two playoff games. He is receiving interest from Seton Hall, Rutgers, Marist, Iona, St. Joe's, LaSalle and Providence.

12.19.2002
JAMES GIST
James Gist is a 6-foot-8, 210-pound big forward from Good Counsel High School in Wheaton, Md. The young junior has a fine body now, but he also has definite growth potential. He is expected to fill out and end up around 6-foot-10 and 240 pounds. Gist is a fierce, consistent rebounder who is quick off his feet. Offense is still developing, but he has knocked down more than a few turnaround jumpers in the paint, and gets good elevation on that shot. Gist has such long arms that you just have to know that he would turn into a big time rebounder. In a recent session, he ran the floor well and had a few serious dunks off teammate's misses. This fine frontcourt player, who has the eyes of a number of major programs, has the look of a very good low post scorer and defender. In addition to Providence College, Gist is being courted by Georgetown, Kentucky, Charlotte, of course, Maryland, and others.

JERMAINE BELL
Jermaine Bell is a 6-foot-11, 210-pound center from Rochester, N.Y., who has moved around quite a bit during his high school years. Currently, he is playing for Pendleton High School at the IMG Academy in Brandenton, Fla., and has been reclassified as a junior. Jermaine had committed to St. John's as a sophomore, but although the Johnnies are still involved, he has reneged on that commitment and is wide open. Bell has always seemed to have a problem putting weight on, but at the same time, he has always been an outstanding defender. He is blocking shots at one end and finishing with a dunk at the other. Recently he had 24 points against Chipola Junior College. He's stronger than ever, and most important, he is in better condition. Jermaine is receiving attention from Memphis, St. John's, Cincinnati, Syracuse and Providence College.

12.16.2002
NORMAN PLUMMER
Norman Plummer is a 6-foot-6, 200-pound junior small/combo forward from Fairfield, Ohio, who is now showing his wares at Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, NH... and he is doing well enough to be attracting serious interest from Ohio State, Iowa State, Wyoming, and Providence College. Plummer works very hard and his better than 20 points per game average says that he knows where the hoop is, whether he is shooting from the perimeter or in the paint. Plummer runs the floor very well, is an active presence on defense, and can score both off the dribble and in transition. He has also shown that he can play at both ends of the floor by deflecting passes and getting his share of steals. He may well turn out to be Brewster's best major prospect.

12.12.2002
DESEAN WHITE
DeSean White is a 6-foot-7, 220-pound power forward from Cardinal Dougherty High School in Philadelphia who is attracting attention from a number of big-time programs on the East Coast. White is said to have elite skills, inside-outside, best overall prospect in the class in the Philly area. He can do it all... skills, body type and attitude rival those of a young Antoine Walker, but just like a Walker, his antics sometimes define his game. White has good hands and the ability to make plays off the dribble. He has range on his jumper beyond the three-point arc, good footwork, but he only plays hard in spurts and has a tendency to disappear in games and/or commit stupid fouls... but he will be super if he can get his act together. Recruiting interest is coming from Villanova, Providence, Syracuse, Xavier, Texas, and UConn. As a sophomore last season, White averaged 16 points and 8 rebounds per game for Cardinal Dougherty. This season, in his first game, he tallied 17 points and pulled down 11 boards.

BILAL BENN
Bilal Benn is a 6-foot-4, 170-pound guard from Cardinal Dougherty High School in Philadelphia, who is being touted as the most improved player in Philadelphia. A gym rat and hard worker, Benn keeps growing as a player. As a sophomore, he was the forgotten man amongst the outstanding Cardinal Dougherty sophs, although he averaged 13 points, five rebounds and four assists per game. Benn is a defensive menace, and though he currently plays mostly at the 2-guard, and fills in at the 1, his future could be as a point guard. He is a slick ball handler and plays extremely hard. Major interest is beginning to come to Bilal from Siena, Duquesne, St. Joe's, La Salle, BU, Temple, URI and the Friars.

ARTURO DUBOIS
Arturo (Boo) Dubois, is a 6-foot-6, 230-pound power forward who plays for Rice High School in Manhattan. Dubois had an impressive club tour this past summer and his name has now popped up on numerous recruiting lists. Dubois told PrepStars.com that he felt he improved over the summer by playing against bigger guys. Academics are important to this young man, and he carries a 3.0 GPA to prove it. "From the basketball side, I want to see how they develop players, how many NBA players they send, how the school treats the players," Dubois told PrepStars. "Like, do they sit down and help you make choices, because I really like a family type atmosphere." Dubois is a very effective power forward with a wide body, good hands, big wingspan and soft touch around the basket. His strengths are his rebounding and post up game from the low block, plus a consistent turnaround jumper inside. He needs to improve his conditioning and left hand near the rim. He is not a great leaper, but is extremely quick. He is being looked at by Miami, Rutgers, Kentucky, Florida, Stanford and Providence College.

12.3.2002
FRANZ DORSAINVIL
Franz Dorzainvil is a 6-foot-7, 240-pound power forward who moved just eight months ago from Montreal, where he spent most of his life, to Elizabethtown, N.J. He was born in Haiti. His grades have not been the best, so he has transferred to Notre Dame Prep in Fitchburg, Mass., where he is currently playing for Coach Bill Barton. Strong around the basket, Dorsainvil averaged 15 points, 10 rebounds, and three blocks per game last season for Elizabethtown High School. Franz, who is very strong inside, has received interest from Richmond, UMass, Rutgers, Miami, and Providence College.

RALPH MIMS
Ralph Mims is a 6-foot-2, 205-pound combo guard from Brunswick High School in Brunswick, Maine, who has caught the eyes of a number of high major teams this past year. Mims, a Pensacola, Fla., native, moved to Maine three years ago with his father, a Navy officer who was transferred to northern New England. Mims is a strong guard who does most of his scoring off penetration to the basket. He averaged 18.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and three assists per game as a sophomore, but stepped up his game when the chips were on the line. He averaged 26 points per game in the four games that Brunswick played in the state tournament and had 31 in the state title game, a victory over Virginia recruit, Carner-Medley's Deering High School squad. There is interest from Boston College, Florida State, UMass, UConn, William and Mary, as well as the Friars.

11.12.2002
The first two names, Jimmy Inglis and Antoine Agudio, both may be ready for 2003, but it is felt that, for different reasons, both will fall to 2004.

JIMMY INGLIS
Jimmy Inglis is a 6-foot-11, 255-pound power forward/center who the Friars recruited for the class of 2001. Failing to qualify, Inglis enrolled at Globe Tech where he had an outstanding freshman year. He has transferred to Eastern Oklahoma this winter, and was expected to pay immediate dividends for the Division 1 program, but back problems have kept him out of action this preseason. Inglis is a skilled scorer in the low post and uses his big body well to establish position. He has the ability to drop 20 points on you with frightening efficiency. Inglis is scheduled to begin practicing in 7-10 days and begin playing in games shortly thereafter. Depending on how the first several games go, he may seek a medical redshirt and sit out the remainder of the season. Then the question turns to academics and whether he graduates next spring and has enough transferable credits (the Globe credits could be an issue). If he gets the redshirt and his academics are in order, he will have three years of D-1, and he will become a backup for 2003 in the event we have an opening. If he redshirts, but he still needs additional credits to graduate, he could fall to 2004. Fresno State, UConn, St. John's, Seton Hall and Providence College are waiting to see how it turns out.

ANTOINE AGUDIO
Antoine Agudio is a 6-foot-3, 185-pound combo guard from Walt Whitman High School in Huntington, N.Y., who has impressed the Friar staff this past year. Agudio is a lanky guard with a soft shooting touch, is shifty in traffic, capable of scoring off the dribble, and has a pretty quick first step. He elevates well on his jumper and is blessed with good athleticism. A senior, there is a strong possibility that Agudio will prep for a year, which would put him into the class of 2004. He averaged 22 points, five rebounds, two steals and three assists for Whitman as a junior.

DARRYL LODGE
Darryl Lodge is a 6-foot-7, 195-pound junior from Charlestown High School in Charlestown, Mass. A very athletic slasher, Darryl plays above the rim. hits the boards hard and is best in an uptempo setting. A strong, wiry player, Lodge exploded onto the national scene last year at Slam Dunk at the Beach, but he broke his arm, diving for a loose ball, and his season was over. He is quick for his size and will attract, with a good junior season, plenty of D1 attention. Currently, he is being looked at by Boston College, UMass and Providence College,

10.24.2002
JON LUCKY
Jon Lucky is a 6-foot-4, 195-pound junior point guard from Sacred Heart High School in Waterbury, Conn., who likes the Big East. Jon has impressed coaches since he first started as a freshman at Sacred Heart two years ago. Last year as a sophomore, Lucky averaged 11 points, seven assists, four rebounds, and two steals per game for the Connecticut school. In addition to Providence, Lucky is interested in UConn, Seton Hall and Syracuse.

CORNELIO GUIBUNDA
Cornelio Guibunda, a native of Mozambique, is a 6-foot-9 big forward who will play this season, as a junior at King & Low Heywood Thomas School in Stamford, Conn. Guibunda attended Greenwich High School last season and dominated at the defensive end of the court. His rebounding and shot blocking has attracted a number of high major programs already, among them are Georgia, Vanderbilt, Marquette, N.C. State and Providence College. A factor in this recruitment may be the fate of his good friend, Samuel Manhanga. Manhanga came to this country with Guibunda and has followed him to Greenwich High School. Manhanga, a senior and a mid-major talent, may be close to committing to Brown.

10.22.2002
CAMERON TYLER
Cameron Tyler is a 6-foot , 180-pound combo guard from Cardozo High School in Bayside, N.Y., who is a phenomenal scorer, who can hit the deep three as well take people off the dribble with a killer handle. Tyler can be explosive on the offensive end. He possesses very good strength and a stocky build. He has good court sense and always knows where all his teammates are on the floor. Tyler has a very quick first step and is hard to contain off the dribble He is an outstanding finisher and is great in traffic. Providence College is looking closely, but the list should grow with a great season at Cardozo.

KASHIF PAYNE
Kashif Payne is a 5-foot-8, 150-pound point guard who will attend Northfield Mt. Hermon for the next two seasons. Kashif, the cousin of Friar great, John Linehan, to this point has shown his talent at Archbishop Carroll High School in Radnor, Pa. Last season he averaged 17 points, three rebounds, eight assists and two steals per game for Archbishop Carroll. Payne has become a good shooter, is as tough as nails, and an ultra quick student of the game. He makes things happen with his speed, and is always involved in the flow of the game. His only weakness is his size. The Friars are very involved with this young man who recently visited the campus with his Mt. Hermon teammates.

10.8.2002
EMMANUEL "MANNY" QUEZADA
Manny Quezada is a 6-foot-2, 175-pound combo guard who attends The St. Albans School in Washington, D.C. He is quickly becoming one of the real sleepers in the class of 2004. The New York native has shown himself as a smooth shooter from mid- and long-range. He is making a concentrated effort to hit the weight room, because he needs to build up his strength to excel at the next level. Last season, as a sophomore, Quezada was named first team All-IAC, leading St. Albans to a 21-4 record with a scoring average of 22 points per game. Manny was also named Honorable Mention by the Washington Post to the DC area All Met team. Early on, he has interest from Stanford and Delaware, in addition to Providence College, who has come in to see him work out. Manny is a solid "B" student at academically competitive St. Albans. He will take the PSAT this fall.

10.2.2002
JUAN PALACIOS
Juan Palacios is a 6-foot-8, 225-pound big forward who plays for Our Savior New American High School in Centereach, N.Y. His full name is Juan Diego Tello Palacios who just plays the game hard and is one of the best in the class of 2004. Palacios has the skill to bang in a 12 footer while also battling for every loose ball on the glass. All of the Big East schools have expressed interest in him, along with the likes of North Carolina, Louisville, Kentucky and Texas.

SCOTT DRAUGHN
Scott Draughn is a 6-foot-6, 200-pound small forward from Hamden Hall in Hamden, Conn., who has caught the eyes of the Providence College staff. He can shoot out to the perimeter and also rebound with the best of them. Last season, he averaged 16 points and 14 rebounds a game for Hamden Hall. Draughn is also being pursued by Auburn, UConn and Seton Hall.

ALVIN LEWIS
Alvin Lewis is a 6-foot-1, 180-pound point guard from Madison Park High School in Roxbury, Mass. Lewis is a transfer from the Tilton School who returns to his old neighborhood as one of the top guards in New England. Lewis is a savvy ball-handler, nice floor leader, and outstanding passer, who will hit the deep three and also play tough defense. He played for the Metro Boston Lena AAU team this past summer.

AL HORFORD
Al Horford, the son of former University of Miami and NBA center, Tito Horford, is a 6-foot-8, 225-pound big forward from Grand Ledge High School in Grand Ledge, Mich. Horford is still raw, but because of his size and his genealogy, he is being looked at by a number of high major programs, including Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, Providence, Xavier and Northwestern.

EMERY OUTLAND
Emery Outland is a 6-foot-1, 170-pound lead guard for St. Andrew's in Barrington who is very familiar with Providence College. Emery has nice range on his jumper and runs a solid floor game. Mike Sullivan has said that Outland could progress into a top 50 prospect. He is being recruited by Clemson, Texas A&M, Syracuse, Providence, Hartford, TCU and Villanova.

RICHARD DORSEY
Richard Dorsey is a 6-foot-7, 230-pound power forward from Baltimore, Md., who will play this season for Mt. Zion Christian School in Durham, N.C. Richard has great hands for his size, averaged 12 points, 12 rebounds, seven blocks and three steals a game for Douglass High School, the Maryland state champions last season. He was a teammate of Friar recruit Gerald Brown. He was named first team All-Metro by the Baltimore Sun. Back in April, Richard was described to me this way: "I think Richard Dorsey is an animal. He does not care if he gets the ball in the post or not... he just goes and gets it!" He is being recruited by a number of high major programs, including UConn, Charlotte, Memphis, Providence, UMass, Louisville and NC State. I was told today that he may be leaning toward Charlotte.

RAMEL BRADLEY
Ramel Bradley is a 6-foot-2, 165-pound shooting guard from Manhattan, N.Y., who has transferred to Mt. Zion Christian School in Durham, N.C., and has reclassified as a junior. Bradley can knock down the three-pointer and is slippery off the dribble with the body control and athleticism to get in traffic and convert. He definitely has to get stronger for the next level. Bradley averaged 24 points, six rebounds, and three assists last season for Park West High School. He has interest in UConn. Georgetown, Illinois, NC State, Providence, Syracuse, Charlotte, Hofstra, Rutgers, Seton Hall, and St. John's. Like his new teammate, Richard Dorsey, he is said to be leaning to Charlotte.

9.30.2002
JOEL SMITH
Joel Smith is a 6-foot-6, 205-pound small forward from Lompoc High School, which is near Santa Barbara, Calif. Smith has been reclassified as a junior and will spend the next two years playing for Jason Smith at Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, N.H. He is an aggressive slashing forward who averaged 22 points per game last season for Lompoc and who also played for the Rockfish AAU team during the past two summers. Smith said that he is at Brewster "to get my act together academically." He is being looked at by Seton Hall, St. John's. Boston College, UMass, Pittsburgh, URI, as well as Providence College.

KYLE LOWRY
Kyle Lowry is an offensive minded 5-foot-10, 170-pound junior point guard from Cardinal Dougherty High School in Philadelphia who has caught the eye of a number of high major teams this summer. Lowry, a transfer from Northeast High School, lead the highly successful public school program last season, averaging 20 points, five rebounds, seven assists and six steals per game. On the down side, he sometimes tries to do too much on his own, but on the whole, Lowry is an effective player thanks to his speed and scoring ability. He has early interest in LaSalle, St. Joseph's, Temple, Boston College, Providence College, Vanderbilt and Tulsa.

JAMAUL WARREN
Jamaul Warren, a 6-foot-1, 175-pound point guard from Springfield, Mass., is a carryover from the 2003 recruiting lists. Warren has been reclassified as a junior and will play for Milford Academy.  He has a great handle and gets to the basket and finishes well. He also shoots well from the perimeter. He has a way to go academically, but he is being recruited by Maryland, Syracuse and Seton Hall, Memphis, Charlotte, and Rutgers, as well as Providence College.

DORIEN BROWN
Dorien Brown, the brother of former PC big man, Troy Brown, is a 6-foot-6, 195-pound small forward from Lynn, Mass., who will play this season at Bellingham High School in Bellingham, Mass. Brown, a good friend of Providence recruit Dwight Brewington, has visited the PC campus on numerous occasions. He is a fluid wing that can get to the basket with ease. On defense, he is an active shot blocker who steps it up when the game is on the line. Brown is very athletic and has a great handle. Beside the Friars, he is being looked at by URI, Manhattan, Alabama, and UMass.

DAVID McCLURE
David McClure is a 6-foot-5, 175-pound small forward from Trinity Catholic High School in Stamford, Conn., who will find himself on the radar screens of many high major programs before his high school career comes to an end. McClure, a sound basketball player can play both inside and out, and plays every inch of the court and with skill. He impresses with his ability to stop in transition and hit the short jumper -- a lost art on the high school level. Last season at Trinity Catholic, he averaged 17 points, 12 rebounds, three assists, 2.5 blocks and 1.5 steals per game. McClure has already visited PC on an unofficial basis, and has interest in UMass, Ohio State, Duke, North Carolina, NC State, UConn, Seton Hall, Villanova, Stanford, Louisville, Florida, Kentucky, Notre Dame, Syracuse, Iowa State, Florida State... and Providence College.

JOSHUA THOMAS
Joshua Thomas is a 5-foot-11 point guard from Redemption Christian Academy in Troy, N.Y., and is the star of the team. "He's an exceptional player," Redemption coach Shalako Simon said two weeks ago at the Hoop Group's Fall Jamfest. "His court vision is well beyond that of the best guards in the country. He's the best guard we've got--better than any of our post-grads." Thomas added: "I like to pass and get assists. I get my teammates involved." Thomas is a Brooklyn native who played his freshman year at Robeson High School. He is being contacted by Georgetown, Rutgers, Temple and Providence College.
