THE SCOUTING REPORT

GEORGETOWN (17-5, 7-4 Big East): The Hoyas come to town after their biggest win of the season in a 103-90 upset of Villanova on Saturday. Hoyas shot a sizzling 56 percent overall and 52 percent (10-of-19) from the 3-point line…Clark hit 6-of-7 threes and scored a career-best 24 points…Previous game was a disappointing home loss to South Florida. Game before that was a 12-point win over Duke…Losses have come to USF, Syracuse, Villanova, Marquette and Old Dominion…Freeman and Monroe are both potential all-league players. Freeman has scored 20-plus points in eight games with a high of 33 against UConn. Monroe may be best all-around post player in the Big East.

PROVIDENCE (12-11, 4-7 Big East): The Friars return to The Dunk tonight to face the first of three straight teams ranked in the top seven in the polls. The game against the No. 7 Hoyas will be followed by a visit to No. 4 Villanova and then a home date vs. No. 5 West Virginia…PC has lost its last three meetings with Georgetown and has not beaten the Hoyas in Providence since 2004…PC is 1-1 versus ranked teams this season…Peterson has posted double-doubles in six of his last eight games and has 13 this season, the most in the Big East…PC is averaging 82.3 points, Georgetown 73.9…Curry passed Jim Hadnot and moved into 13th place on all-time scoring list. He now has 1,481 points.
