| THE SCOUTING REPORT |
PROVIDENCE (11-4, 3-0 Big East): The Friars have won seven of eight games and are 3-0 in the Big East for just the second time in the 30-year history of the conference. Will look to go 4-0 for the first time ever today. … PC has dropped two straight to the Hoyas, but the teams are 2-2 in last four meetings. Friars are 4-18 against the Hoyas in D.C. but last won there in 2005. … This is first game of the season for PC against a ranked team. Friars are 93-210 all-time against ranked foes, with the last win coming last season against UConn. PC’s next foe, Marquette, is also nationally ranked. PC shot a season-best 50 percent from the 3-point line in an 87-79 win at Cincinnati on Wednesday. Friars hit 12 threes and are 7-1 when they make seven or more treys. They are 4-3 when they make fewer than seven. … In PC’s 7-1 stretch over the last eight games, foes are shooting just 22 percent from the 3-point line.
GEORGETOWN (10-3, 1-2): The Hoyas return home after losing their second straight game, at Notre Dame, 73-67. Have won at UConn and lost at home to Pittsburgh. … Hoyas have won 15 of their last 16 Big East home games. … Hoyas are ranked ninth this week. That’s the highest they’ve been voted this season. Freshman Monroe is one of the best in the country. He won Big East Rookie of the Week honors this week after averaging 15.5 points and 5.5 rebounds in the UConn and Pittsburgh games. He had career-high 21 points with 10 rebounds against Notre Dame. … Wright has shaken off a foot injury that cost him bulk of last season and has played well as a sophomore. … Team has struggled at times off the glass, and the lack of depth is an issue.
