P-Bruins trap Sharks in shootout

WORCESTER — The Providence Bruins defeated the Worcester Sharks, 5-4, in a shootout last night at the DCU Center. The P-Bruins got goals from Jeff Hoggan, Chris Collins and two goals from Pascal Pelletier.
The Sharks started the scoring late in the first period, while on the power play at the 15:05 mark. With two seconds left on the man-advantage Josh Prudden poked a rebound into the P-Bruins net for his first goal of the season. Ashton Rome and Dan Spang recorded the assists. Providence made it 1-1 at 18:04. Martins Karsums passed the puck as he was skating down the right side to David Krejci on the opposite side of the ice. He skated in toward the net and found Pelletier open backdoor for the goal.
In the second period, the Sharks retook the lead at 3:17. Mike Iggulden scored his 10th goal of the season with Derek Joslin and Spang grabbing the assists. Once again the P-Bruins bounced back to tie the game. At the 4:49 mark Hoggan scored a power play goal. T.J. Trevelyan and Jonathan Sigalet picked up the assists. Worcester regained the lead at 12:36.
Graham Mink stole the puck at the Providence blue line and scored from right outside the P-Bruins crease. The goal was unassisted. Heading into the second intermission the P-Bruins made it 3-3. Hoggan took a shot and the rebound went to Collins. His shot went off the post, off of Worcester netminder Dmitri Patzold’s skate and into the net.
