HARTFORD — Petteri Nokelainen scored with 5:23 to play, lifting the Providence Bruins to a 4-3 victory over the Hartford WolfPack before 2,119 fans at the Hartford Civic Center last night.

Nokelainen’s goal, his third of the season, came on a power play and was the last of three straight goals by the Bruins.

Steve MacIntyre (his first), T.J. Trevelyan (third) and Brandon Bochenski (first) scored the other goals for Providence, which has won five of six, all on the road, to start the season.

The P-Bruins had a 30-17 advantage in shots, with rookie goalie Tuukka Rask making 14 saves.

Three Stars

1. Nokelainen; 2. Hartford’s Greg Moore (two assists); 3. Pascal Pelletier.

Hit of the Game

The third-period collisions between Adam McQuaid and Hartford’s Alex Bourret, which sent both players flying. McQuaid later delivered an equally hard hit to Moore.

Quick Hits

Alternate captain Nate Thompson, who had missed the previous two games with a wrist injury, took the pregame warm-ups but was scratched again. Thompson said he expects to be ready for Saturday’s game at Lowell … Among the Hartford scratches was forward Dave Scatchard ( groin), the former Boston Bruin, who hooked on with the WolfPack last week ... Bochenski, down from Boston for a two-game conditioning stint, had four shots, sharing the game-high with teammate Sean Curry.

Unsung Hero

P-Bruins center Vladimir Sobotka. No points, but he delivered some hits and pestered the WolfPack most of the night.

Turning Point

Trevelyan’s goal, with 1:42 left in the first period, which began the Providence comeback.

They Said It

•“I think Steve MacIntyre was probably our best offensive player in the first period. He was in the right places to get the puck.” — Providence coach Scott Gordon.

•“It was a lot of fun. I hadn’t played a game in about a month. I just went out there, had fun, and did the things I had to do. I think the first two periods were kind of tough. But hockey’s hockey. You figure it out.” — Bochenski.

•“Providence got stronger as the game went on, and we fell by the wayside.” — Hartford coach Ken Gernander.

Next Up

Saturday (2:05 p.m.) at Lowell.
