PROVIDENCE — Veteran AHLer Jeff Hoggan and newly signed Zach Hamill each scored in the shootout as the Providence Bruins defeated the Hartford Wolf Pack, 4-3, last night in front of 9,535 fans at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center.
The P-Bruins got goals from Nate Thompson, Byron Bitz and Matt Lashoff during regulation.
The P-Bruins took a 1-0 lead only eight seconds into the game. Matt Hunwick sent the puck to Sean Curry in his own zone and he fed Thompson for a breakaway. Thompson scored his 18th goal of the season.
Hartford tied the game at one at the 6:45 mark of the second period. With a Wolf Pack power play expiring, Artem Anisimov netted his 14th goal of the season.
In the third period, the P-Bruins retook the lead at the 2:05 mark. Dwayne Zinger put a shot on net and Hamill was there to get the rebound and push the puck to Bitz, who tallied his 13th of the season.
The Wolf Pack tied the game at two moments later at the 4:55 mark when Hutchinson scored his 18th goal of the season
Later in the third at the 12:38 mark Chris Collins sent the puck to Jonathan Sigalet and he worked it up the boards for Matt Lashoff. He skated into the zone, faked out a Wolf Pack defenseman and scored his ninth goal of the season.
But once again the Wolf Pack battled back to tie the game. At the 12:59 mark, Mike Ouellette netted his 13th of the season.
After a scoreless overtime, the game went to a shootout. The only Hartford player to score was Greg Moore. 4 3 Next Game Tonight a Lowell, 7:05 p.m.
