•THE HIGHLIGHTS: Danny Sandoval went 2-for-4 with two runs, a walk and an RBI for the Bisons. Mike Lowell, who played in the second of his three-game rehab stint with Pawtucket, went 1-for-4 and played the entire game at third base.

Lowell was key in turning a 5-4-3 double play to get the PawSox out of the sixth without giving up a run. But Lowell did have a throwing error in the seventh when he overthrew first baseman Chad Spann allowing Jordan Brown to reach base.

Buffalo’s Jason Tyner (single) drew three walks, stole two bases and scored a run.

•KEYS TO THE GAME: Buffalo first baseman Jordan Brown stroked an RBI double to left field that scored Danny Sandoval in the first inning for Buffalo’s first run and a 1-1 tie.

With two on and two Bisons third baseman Aaron Herr singled to right field to score Danny Sandoval to put Buffalo up 2-1 and give them a lead they wouldn’t relinquish.

PawSox had a scoring threat stopped in the sixth when the Bisons turned a strike-him-out throw-him-out double play on Jeff Bailey (runner) and Dusty Brown (batter).

•PROSPECT WATCH: Chad Spann recorded his first RBI of the season when his first-inning double plated Jeff Bailey, who had singled.

Spann (1-for-4) was robbed of an extra-base hit in the ninth when Bisons right fielder Jason Cooper made a diving backhanded grab.

•THEY SAID IT: Devern Hansack made his first start since coming off the DL with a forearm bruise. Working on a 55 to 60-pitch count, Hansack threw 53 pitches, 33 for strikes, giving up two earned runs on four hits and two walks in 2 2/3 innings of work. Hansack fanned three.

“His change-up was a little hard, his slider…he was throwing everything hard early and I think that because of that he’s got to get out there and throw his pitches to get his feel the depth on the slider and the sell on the change-up,” said Pawtucket manager Ron Johnson.

“Overall it was a pretty good job. His command, he was around the strike zone. It’s been two weeks since he’s been on the mound. I was pleased.”
