•THE LOWLIGHT: For the first time in 42 days, Pawtucket lost a series. The result gave Buffalo two wins in the three-game set. That made it the first time since April 26-27, when the Bisons swept a two-game series, that the PawSox had lost a series.

Pawtucket had been 22-10 at McCoy entering the game, equaling the best home record in team history, set in 1977.

Clay Buchholz started and lasted only three innings for Pawtucket, allowing six hits and two runs. Jordan Brown had a two-run homer in the fourth, Todd Linden a three-run shot in the sixth and Aaron Herr a two-run blast in the ninth for Buffalo. It was Herr’s third hit of the night.

Pawtucket batters struck out 11 times, including Dusty Brown four times.

•PROSPECT WATCH: Chris Carter is on fire.

The lefty, who is back after a brief stint in Boston, had two more hits, including a three-run homer in the sixth. It was his 13th of the season, and third in three games. That comes after he had a stretch of homers in four straight games from May 28-May 31.

Carter’s home run followed a walk to Joe Thurston and a single by Jed Lowrie.

•PLAYER MOVES: Bobby Kielty is back on the disabled list. Kielty, one of the heroes of Boston’s World Series victory last year, injured his left oblique on a swing in Sunday’s game. He was placed on the seven-day DL and replaced by Brian Pritz.

•TONIGHT: David Pauley (8-2, 3.86) will try to move into a tie for the league lead in victories when he faces Louisville in a 7:05 contest. He will face Adam Pettyjohn (7-1, 4.66). It is the start of a four-game set against the Bats.
