Cora, Casey, Colon to play tonight

01:00 AM EDT on Saturday, May 10, 2008

PAWTUCKET — Last night’s PawSox game against the Norfolk Tides was postponed due to inclement weather. It will be made up tonight as part of a single-admission doubleheader, beginning at 6:05.

Red Sox players Alex Cora and Sean Casey will conclude their rehab stints with the PawSox in Game One of the twinbill. Cora will play shortstop and Casey will play first base. Both arrived at McCoy Stadium yesterday afternoon just as the game was postponed, but both stayed and took batting practice inside.

Red Sox pitcher Bartolo Colon will make his second appearance for the PawSox this season tonight. The veteran right-hander, who has been on the DL since April 4 with an oblique injury, will start Game One of the doubleheader. He’s scheduled to throw 55 pitches.

The first of four free youth clinics at McCoy Stadium will take place today from 2 to 3:15 p.m. (rain or shine). The clinic is open to youngsters of all ages free of charge. PawSox manager Ron Johnson, pitching coach Rich Sauveur, hitting coach Russ Morman, and several players such as Lincoln Holdzkom, Chris Smith, Dusty Brown, Chad Spann, Joe Thurston, Sean Danielson, and Jeff Bailey will be at McCoy to offer youngsters instructions and tips on the game of baseball.

The first 4,000 young fans — age 14 and under — coming to McCoy for tonight’s game will receive a PawSox photo baseball featuring full-color action photos of Jonathan Papelbon, Jon Lester, Manny Delcarmen, Jacoby Ellsbury and Dustin Pedroia.

The PawSox will honor all mothers with a special Mother’s Day tribute at McCoy tomorrow. The PawSox will be playing Norfolk at 1:05 p.m. and, upon entering the stadium, the first 3,000 mothers will be given a long-stemmed rose.
