OTTAWA -- Sins of commission, sins of ommission. The Pawtucket Red Sox found a way to commit both in last night's doubleheader with the Ottawa Lynx, and paid for that with twin losses, 6-3, and 1-0, before 2,577 at Lynx Stadium.

In the opener, Pawtucket made four errors, all of them leading to unearned Ottawa tallies. Then in the nightcap, the PawSox stranded seven runners and wasted what had been a stellar effort by starter Rob Henkel.

Missing most of the fun was shortstop Dustin Pedroia, who served as designated hitter in the opener (going 0-for-2) before he was ordered pulled by the Boston Red Sox. Peoria was called up and will make his major-league debut upon joining the club today in Anaheim today.

"I'm excited," said Pedroia, who hit a team-high .305 with 5 homers and 50 RBI. "It's an opportunity I've been waiting for my whole life. I can't wait until I get there, and do anything I can to help them win."

Meanwhile, Henkel certainly did his part to help Pawtucket's cause.

Making his second start since signing as a free agent, Henkel (1-1) hurled a complete-game five-hitter, striking out seven and walking none.

The only run against him came in in the bottom of third, when Todd Donovan singled, then scored on Ed Rogers' double into the left-field corner.

"It was a quick game," said Henkel. "The defense made some great plays behind me. You just have to tip your hat to Ottawa."

Henkel deserved better than the fate, and might have fared better if his mates could have contributed a timely hit. But they left the bases loaded in the first inning, then left two men stranded in scoring position in the next two frames.

In the opener, matters got out of hand early, as the PawSox played themselves out of contention. Starter Chris Smith (1-1) committed the first miscue in the opening inning, after fielding a sacrifice bunt by Eddy Garabito and throwing wildly past first, allowing Rogers to score the first run.

In the third, with the Lynx leading 2-0, Ottawa scored three more times. Lynx catcher Eli Whiteside doubled in two runs, while an error by Pawtucket second baseman Willie Harris permitted another.
