PAWTUCKET (AP) -- The Buffalo Bisons sent 10 men to the plate and scored six runs on six hits and a hit batter in the fourth inning on the way to a 10-3 victory over the Pawtucket Red Sox this afternoon.
Jake Throwers had a two-run single and John Rodriguez hit a two-run double in the inning as the Bisons had a season-high 12 hits in the game.
Jake Gautreau and Brandon Phillips hit solo homers for Buffalo.
The Bisons scored twice in the second inning against Pawtucket starter Tim Kester (0-1), but Kelly Shoppach hit a solo home run in the bottom of the inning off winning pitcher Jeremy Guthrie (1-1) to make it 2-1.
Kevin Youkilis drew a bases-loaded walk and Shawn Wooten hit a sacrifice fly in the third to give Pawtucket a 3-2 lead.
Guthrie pitched five innings and allowed three runs, two earned, on two hits and five walks. Kaz Tadano got his first save by blanking Pawtucket on one hit over the last four innings. Tadano walked two and struck out five.
