FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Mike Lockwood was a double short of hitting for the cycle and Pawtucket scored five runs in the seventh inning as the PawSox rallied for a 10-5 win over Rochester yesterday in the spring opener for both teams.
Pawtucket scored in each of the first three innings to take a 5-0 lead. Rochester tied the score, 5-5, with two runs in the fifth.
Abe Alvarez started for Pawtucket and went three innings, allowing two hits and two unearned runs. John Stephens was shaky in relief but got the win. Stephens allowed three runs and four hits in three innings.
Lockwood led the PawSox' 14-hit attack, going 3-for-4, including a triple and a solo homer, and drove in three runs. Sheldon Fulse and Alberto Concepcion each had three hits, two RBI and two runs scored.
Pawtucket returns to action tomorrow, when it travels to Sarasota to play the Louisville Bats.
