SAN JOSE, Calif. — Ty Warren isn’t just a pretty darn good defensive lineman for the New England Patriots. But he recently may have nailed down top honors as a husband, too.

During the Patriots’ bye week, Warren and his wife Kesha, whom he has known since their days as elementary schoolers at the Boys & Girls Club in their Texas hometown, renewed their vows. But while Kesha knew about the renewal, she didn’t know Ty would be pulling out all the stops.

He flew in friends and family she didn’t expect, and he had Grammy-nominated R&B singer Musiq Soulchild on hand to serenade the couple, who have three daughters, Brionna, Brielle and Bailey.

Here’s this week’s Up Close.

MY FIRST CAR: Was a 1977 Monte Carlo. I got it at a junkyard. I put a stereo system in it. The stereo was worth more than the car. And the roof was rusted, so when it rained, some water got in there.

MY FIRST JOB: I got a job through the JTPA (Job Training Partnership Act, a government program). It was for kids just trying to get experience. I was working with a custodial firm, stripping floors, painting. Before that, I did anything my mom or grandpa asked me to do.

THE LAST ALBUM I BOUGHT: It was by Tony! Toni! Tone! their 20th anniversary album.

MY FAVORITE MEAL: Turkey and dressing.

MY FAVORITE OFF-DAY ACTIVITY: Now that the kids (Brionna and Brielle) are in school, I get a kick out of taking them to school. That’s my off day, but I enjoy the heck out of it no matter how tired I am.

MY PRE-GAME RITUAL: I keep it simple. I listen to music. I don’t like to eat a lot. I eat three hours before, I stretch three hours before, and I have a Bible verse (2 Timothy 1-7) I read before each game and then say a prayer.

DO YOU HAVE A BUCKET LIST? I’m just day to day. Everything is about the kids for me. Plus, I’m too young for a bucket list.
