Watson sends his wife a 'shout-out,' and the ref pulls a flag out
11:10 PM EST on Sunday, December 7, 2008
SEATTLE -- After his two-yard touchdown reception in the first half of Sunday's game, Benjamin Watson put the ball under his jersey and rubbed his "belly."
The move was in homage to his pregnant wife, Kirsten, who is carrying the couple's first baby, a girl due in about eight weeks.
One problem, though -- because Watson used the ball as a prop, he drew an unsportsmanlike conduct flag for the celebration, and the 15-yard penalty was assessed on the ensuing kickoff.
"It was a little shout-out to my wife back home," Watson said. "I didn't know that I would get a flag. I wasn't trying to taunt anybody, that was just to her."
