Gostkowski continues to be flawless in the kicking game
10:22 PM EDT on Sunday, October 5, 2008
SAN FRANCISCO -- Placekicker Stephen Gostkowski continues to have a strong season: he was three for three Sunday on field goals, including a late 49-yarder to put the game out of reach for San Francisco; converted all three extra points, and had three touchbacks on kickoff, keeping the ball out of the hands of dangerous returner Allen Rossum.
Gostkowski has made all 10 of his field-goal tries this season, and has converted 17 straight in the regular season, dating back to last his first try against Pittsburgh on Dec. 9.
"Anytime you kick your kicks, you feel like you had a good day," he said. "We won, so overall, I always feel like I have a good game when we win."
Gostkowski has converted 30 of his last 32 field goal tries; his 85 percent (51 for 60) conversion rate for his career is a franchise record. Adam Vinatieri holds the Pats' record for consecutive field goals; he had streaks of 25- and 24-straight in his time with New England.
