Mayo an instant hit in NFL debut
10:29 AM EDT on Wednesday, September 10, 2008
FOXBORO -- New England rookie linebacker Jerod Mayo recorded six solo tackles against Kansas City in New England’s 17-10 victory on Sunday. That ranked him second on the team behind Rodney Harrison, who had 14 tackles (7 assists, 7 solo).
His play did not go unnoticed by Bill Belichick and the rest of the Patriots’ coaching staff.
“Jerod has done a good job for us all the way through,” Belichick said. “I thought he did a nice job against Kansas City. There is always room for improvement, but I thought he did a nice job. He was in all the different personnel groups, running situations, passing situations, two minute, short-yardage and so forth. I thought all in all he handled things pretty well.”
