Hochstein back on practice field for New England
08:06 AM EDT on Tuesday, September 2, 2008
FOXBORO -- The Patriots' offensive line got a boost yesterday when G/C Russ Hochstein returned to the practice field. Hochstein was injured against Baltimore in the preseason opener on Aug. 7.
Hochstein is a valued backup, who has filled in for both Dan Koppen at center and Stephen Neal at right guard in recent seasons; on Sunday, there were only six offensive linemen on the practice field, as both Hochstein and Dan Connolly were out.
Deltha O’Neal took part in his first practice with the club, wearing jersey number 21.
New England practiced in full pads yesterday. Those not on the field were: WR Jabar Gaffney, DB Brandon Meriweather, RB Kevin Faulk (suspended), Connolly, TE Benjamin Watson, WR Sam Aiken, DL Le Kevin Smith.
