FOXBORO -- When the news came that Pats’ nemesis Jason Taylor had been traded from Miami to Washington last weekend, there were cheers coming from the Brady and Light households.

“I think [Matt] Light and I popped a cold beer when I saw that transaction,” Tom Brady joked. “We were the two most excited players in the NFL.”

Taylor got to Brady often over the years, generally beating Light to do so, and while Brady has made no secret of the respect he has for the defensive end, learning that he would not have to face him twice a season was great news.

Brady quipped that he has managed to get younger — last year in training camp the soon-to-be 31-year old said he felt like he was 22, while yesterday he turned it back another year and said 21.

“My body feels really good and in great shape. My arm feels good. My mind feels good most importantly. We are ready to attack this season,” he said.

Unlike last summer, when he was adjusting to a cadre of new receivers, Brady is looking at a lot of the same faces. “We now know what everybody can do,” he said. “We know what everybody is capable of. Last year when we broke the huddle, guys were running to the right or to the left because that is where they had to go. Now when we get in the huddle, I tell Randy [Moss] what to do and he knows exactly what to do. It is the same with Wes [Welker] and Jab [Gaffney]. That leads to better execution and if you can execute more consistently, then that will help over the long term.”
