FOXBORO, Mass. -- Doug Flutie, who won a Heisman Trophy at Boston
College and played for the Patriots during a well-traveled professional
career, has reached an agreement on a one-year deal with New England,
his agent said.
"He is, as we speak, most likely signing a one-year deal with the New
England Patriots," his agent, Kristen Kuliga told The Associated Press
this afternoon. "I know that Doug is really happy to be home again and
be at home with his family."
The 42-year-old Flutie, a Natick, Mass. native, would back up two-time
Super Bowl MVP Tom Brady.
Patriots spokesman Stacey James said he had no comment.
Flutie was cut by San Diego last month.
