John Fisher: Elitists vs. Bay access
01:00 AM EDT on Saturday, May 10, 2008
Narragansett Bay is one of the most important assets of Rhode Island, but it’s the access and correct use that make the Bay this economic and lifestyle resource.
The proposed fishing pier at the old Jamestown Bridge would be an important addition to this access, benefiting many thousands of Rhode Island citizens as well as its economy.
An elitist handful of Plum Point people should not be able to deprive Rhode Islanders of these benefits. They need to think hard about how to balance and accommodate both interests to a win/win resolution.
