Claire Carlino: Get the SSN off

Since identity theft is so prevalent in our society, I agree that Congress needs to act on removing Social Scurity numbers from Medicare cards (“Identity theft concerns federal agency,” June 22, news). While it’s at it, can Congress also advise the Internal Revenue Service to eliminate the requirement of writing one’s Social Security number on the check when taxes are owed?
