Defense Department announces policy for transferring educational benefits
Under the post 9/11 GI Bill, spouses and children of veterans may be able to get some of their higher education costs paid for by the federal government.

More veterans to be eligible for care
The Department of Veterans Affairs, which now has nearly 8 million veterans enrolled in its health-care system, is poised to welcome nearly 266,000 more veterans into its medical centers and clinics. The VA will expand access to health-care enrollment for certain veterans who had been excluded in the past six years due to their income.

VA Medical Center to hold 60th-anniversary celbration
The Providence VA Medical Center will hold a 60th-anniversary celebration on Thursday, from 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., in the main hospital building’s 5th-floor auditorium which will include the 2009 VA Lincoln Bicentennial traveling exhibition, “Lincoln’s Legacy at VA.”
