Municipalities offer council, school races

Burrillville

Eleven candidates are running for three seats on the Town Council: Council President Nancy Binns and Margaret Dudley, both incumbent Democrats, filed, as did Democrats Blake A. Fouracre, Richard T. Frenette, Kevin D. Heitke, Richard N. Teter II and Barbara Lavergne and independents Robert Bishop, Michelle D. Bouchard, Newton B. Stevens and Robert Marshall.

Filing to run for the nonpartisan School Committee are incumbents Dorothy A. Cardon, Peter F. Lambert and Joan M. Cote, as well as, Aaron J. Coutu, Christine Fasano, David C. Ketcham, Debra L. Stockwell and Thomas P. Tatro.

Cumberland

Incumbent Democrat Daniel J. McKee will face ex-Democratic mayor David S. Iwuc. Filing to run for a townwide Town Council seat are three Democrats: incumbent James T. Higgins, Bruce A. Lemois and James K. McLaughlin.

For the District 1 Town Council seat it is three Democrats: incumbent Antonio J. Alburquerque, Robert John Dias and Thomas Paul Tougas. In District 2, Councilman E. Craig Dwyer is unopposed.

Only Democrats filed for District 3 Town Council: incumbent Kelley Nickson-Morris, Paul Simoes and James C. Hartke. Incumbent District 4 Councilman Jason B. Kirkpatrick is unopposed.

In District 5, the Town Council candidates are incumbent Democrat Mia A. Ackerman, Democrat Theodore R. Vecchio Jr. and Republicans Christine M. Avella and Mark G. Dosdourian.

Seeking an at-large nonpartisan School Committee seat are: incumbents Robert C. Thibodeau and Lisa A. Beaulieu; Paul DiModica and Ryan William Pearson.

Rosa Quinonez Crowley is unopposed for the District 1 School Committee seat, while in District 2, incumbent Wayne David Wagner and Daniel L. Pedro filed. Running for the District 3 School Committee seat are John V. Gibbons and incumbent Donald J. Costa. In District 4, the School Committee candidates are Brian J. Kelly and Richard S. Hilton Jr. Running for the District 5 nonpartisan School Committee seat is incumbent Earl T. Wood.

Foster

Filing for Town Council are: Democrats Joseph D. Cardillo, Roger L. Hawes, incumbents John L. Lewis, Colette J. Matarese, and Lynne S. Rider, as well as Republican Gordon Rogers, and independent Jonathon T. Vorro.

Filing to run for the nonpartisan School Committee are Cynthia Bernard and incumbents Ronald Cervasio and Dennis R. Cretien. Town Clerk Tina W. Freeman is unopposed.

Glocester

Filing for Town Council are: Patrick J. Carroll, a Democrat; Derek J. Hallam, a Democrat; Michael C. Joyce, an incumbent Democrat; William E. Reichert, an incumbent Democrat; Edward C. Burlingame, a Republican; John Patrick Devine, a Republican; George O. Steere Jr., a Republican; Walter M.O. Steere III, a Republican; Kevin P. Walsh, a Republican; Steven F. Winsor, a Democrat; and Vincent N. Iannuzzi Jr., a Democrat.

Town Clerk Jean M. Fecteau is unopposed. Filing to run for director of human services are incumbent Democrat Virginia M. Peters and Republican Judith A. Branch.

Johnston

Democratic Mayor Joseph M. Polisena and independent Raymond Acciardo filed for mayor.

In the District 1 Town Council race, Democrats William F. Santilli and Melanie Turner filed. For the District 2 Town Council seat, incumbent independent Ernest F. Pitochelli filed, as did Democrats Keith M. Hartley and Debra A. Palermo.

For the District 3 Town Council seat, incumbent Democratic incumbent Joseph A. Wells and Democrat John DiMaio are joined by Republican Peter A. Filippi III.

In District 4, Democratic Town Council President Robert V. Russo and Democrat Traci A. Rossi filed. For the District 5 Town Council seat, incumbent Democrat Stephanie P. Manzi and Democrat Lorraine M. Natale filed.

Filing to run for the District 1 School Committee seat was incumbent Democrat Robert A. LaFazia. For the District 4 School Committee post, incumbent Democrat Sandra Comella-Gabaree and Democrat Joseph W. Rotella filed.

Lincoln

Republican Town Administrator T. Joseph Almond filed petitions, as did Democrats Louis E. Azar, John J. Cullen and John Douglas Barr II and independent James B. Spooner.

On the Town Council, District 2 Democrat John W. Flynn, District 4 Democrat James R. Jahnz and District 5 independent Ronald A. McKenna are unopposed. In District 1, independent Arthur S. Russo and Democrat Timothy McMahon filed. In District 3, it is independent Keith E. Macksoud and Democrat Joseph A. Paiva.

On the School Committee, incumbent Julie M. Zito, Chairwoman Mary Anne Roll and Deborah A. Ambeault filed for the two open at-large committee seats. In District 2, committee member John C. Zangari declared, as did Tracey Ann Cavanaugh. In District 4, incumbent Elizabeth Black Robson is unopposed.

North Smithfield

Town Administrator Robert B. Lowe, Conservation Commission Chairman Donald Gagnon, Paulette D. Hamilton and Ernest H. Alter filed to run for town administrator. All elected offices in town are nonpartisan.

For the five-member Town Council, incumbents Patrick Keeley, Paul M. Leclerc, Paul J. Zwolenski and David A. Lovett, filed petitions, as did Caroly Shumway, Stephen Vowels, Frank Varrecchione, Leo O. Defond, Lucien Benoit and Stephen A. Biron.

Three filed for the three seats on the School Committee: Chairman Robert E. Lafleur and incumbent Christine A. Bonas and Frances R. Johannis.

Scituate

Filing for Town Council are: incumbents Robert R. Budway, Charles A. Collins Jr., Dwight T. Farrar, John F. Winfield Jr., David A. D’Agostino, and newcomers David L. Hanna Jr. and Brenda L. Frederickson, all Republicans; and Richard J. Kells, Donald S. Campbell, Laura E. McGuire, Kirk A. Rerick, Pamela Carosi, Sara E. Hutchings, and John C. Tessitore, all Democrats.

Filing for School Committee are: Ernest P. Marcure and Marylou Umbriano, both Republican incumbents; and Janine E. Grigelevich and Carol S. Levitt, Democrats.

Smithfield

Filing for Town Council are: newcomers Maxine A. Cavanagh, Michael J. Coutu, Richard A. Poirier and incumbents Michael J. Flynn and Ronald F. Manni, all Republicans; and incumbents Bernard A. Hawkins, Stephen R. Archambault, S. Jean Cerroni, and newcomers Richard A. DiIoria Jr. and David M. Fanning, all Democrats. Also filing for the council are independents Stephen G. Tocco, A. Robert LaBrie Sr., Robert J. Esposito, and Ernest V. Begin.

Filing for School Committee are Alberto J. LaGreca Jr.; Sean J. Clough, both Republicans, and incumbents Lauraine A. Ouellette and Joan J. LaFauci, both Democrats.
