Barrington right-of-way hearing set for Wednesday night
01:00 AM EST on Monday, November 17, 2008
BARRINGTON — A contentious dispute over whether to further restrict parking in the area of the Daunis Right of Way could come to a head Wednesday night when the Town Council hears a proposal to ban overnight parking at the two parking spaces leading to the beach area, which fishermen use for night fishing.
The session will be at 7:30 p.m. in the library auditorium, next to the town hall.
Fishermen oppose the new restrictions, requested by residents, because parking is already severely restricted at the site, at the end of Nayatt Road.
But neighbors have complained that traffic in the area creates too much noise and too much opportunity for litter. One resident, Cecil “Ceci” D. Sartor, who lives next to the right of way, has been trying to limit access to the area for years.
