PROVIDENCE — Rhode Island College will inaugurate its ninth president at 1:30 today as Nancy Carriuolo is formally installed in the position she has held since July 1.
Carriuolo, 59, succeeds John Nazarian, who served as RIC’s president for 18 years and will be present at the ceremony. The inauguration will feature several kinds of music, including a Dixieland procession through campus, in honor of Carriuolo’s love of New Orleans; an original short opera by RIC artist-in-residence Judith Lynn Stillman; and several student performances, including the college’s Brass Ensemble, the Chamber Winds and the Baritone Deafs.
The ceremony, which will take place in Roberts Hall on RIC’s campus, 600 Mount Pleasant Ave., is free and open to the public.
