Man's body pulled from Blackstone
01:00 AM EST on Friday, December 23, 2005
CUMBERLAND -- The police are investigating after the body of a 20-year-old Cumberland man was pulled from the Blackstone River yesterday afternoon.
At around 3:45 p.m., the police pulled the man's body from the Pratt Dam near the Blackstone River Bikeway. They are withholding his identity until the family is notified.
The police said the man had been partying with two friends in the wooded area next to the river Tuesday night, when he was separated from the others. The other two men left the area. They told the police they did not see the man again.
The man's father reported him missing around 9 a.m. yesterday.
The Cumberland Police Department -- with help from the man's family -- searched the wooded area next to the river and found the man's body in the water.
The body was removed from the river by Cumberland Fire and Rescue Services, Saylesville Fire and Lincoln Rescue, and taken by the medical examiner.
The police say they don't believe the man's death was the result of foul play.
