PROVIDENCE -- Anyone interested in helping the family of slain Providence police Detective Sgt. James L. Allen may leave a donation at any branch of Citizens Bank.
The Rhode Island State Council of Churches has created what it calls the Detective Sgt. James L. Allen Fund, with the endorsement of the Police Department, to assist his family. The council announced the bank's participation.
Both the council and Citizens Bank have committed to pass the money along to Allen's family without deducting any administrative costs or fees.
Contributions also may be made by check payable to the Rhode Island State Council of Churches and marked "Allen Family Fund," and mailed to 225 Chapman St., Suite 303, Providence RI 02905.
