Paris Hilton says former Miss Teen Rhode Island punched her
03:52 PM EDT on Wednesday, October 4, 2006
LOS ANGELES -- Paris Hilton claimed former beauty queen Shanna Moakler punched her in the face at a Hollywood nightclub early today, police and Hilton's publicist said.
Moakler, of Barrington, contended she was attacked by Hilton's ex-boyfriend Stavros Niarchos, who bent her wrists, poured a drink on her and shoved her down some stairs, Moakler publicist Susan Madore said.
Hilton, 25, and Moakler, 31, both filed police reports alleging battery, police Officer Karen Smith said.
The hotel heiress said she was struck around 1 a.m., shortly after arriving at Hyde nightclub with Niarchos, her publicist Elliot Mintz told The Associated Press.
Moakler is no stranger to the spotlight.
She is a contestant on the ABC reality show Dancing with the Stars. She was runner up to Miss USA in 1995. And she posed for Playboy (Miss December 2001), acted in the films Poison Ivy: The New Seduction and Big Momma's House 2. She has been romantically linked with boxer Oscar de la Hoya and had her own reality show on MTV with husband Travis Barker, drummer for rock band Blink 182.
Last month Barker and Moakler announced they were getting a divorce.
Moakler grew up in Barrington and attended Barrington High School.
After graduation, she moved to Miami to pursue modeling before moving to New York. Her photographs have appeared in various magazines, besides Playboy, including Cosmopolitan.
Her father, Dr. John W. Moakley, is a dentist in Barrington.
