Small plane makes emergency landing in Cumberland
01:00 AM EDT on Monday, September 1, 2008
A small airplane made an emergency landing on a piece of town owned property in Cumberland at about 8:30 this morning, but the police said no one was injured in the accident.
According to the police, a single engine Piper aircraft apparently landed near an old farm that abuts Route 120, on property that is now owned by the town.
St. Stephen Duda said there were no injuries and said that police and rescue personnel were still on the scene.
“By all accounts, it seems to be an emergency landing,” Duda said.
Duda declined to release the name of the pilot or anyone else aboard, but said there may be more information about the flight and the emergency landing later this afternoon.
