The Rhode Island Democrat broke a small bone in his hand earlier this month during a charity event in Middletown. Kennedy was appearing at the “Relay for Life,” an event sponsored by the American Cancer Society on May 10, said Robin Costello, Kennedy’s spokeswoman.
The injury occurred while Kennedy was participating in a martial arts demonstration, said Costello.
“He broke a bone in his hand,” said Costello. His arm has been in a splint because of the injury.
Patrick Kennedy and several other members of the Kennedy clan visited its scion after he suffered a seizure and was hospitalized at Massachusetts General. Among them were the senator's niece, Caroline Kennedy, daughter of the late President John F. Kennedy Jr.
