Here are some events and meetings in the gay, lesbian, bi and transgender community in Rhode Island.
Adopt-A-Family: AIDS Care Ocean State is launching its Adopt-A-Family campaign to provide for the clients of AIDS Care Ocean State who are in need this holiday season. A $50 donation will ensure that a local family will have food and gifts for the holidays.

Calendar available: The 2009 Legends Calendar is now available. Price is $15.
All proceeds will benefit the client fund at AIDS Care Ocean State.

Concert: The Providence Gay Men’s Chorus will present its holiday concert, “Glitter and be Gay’ tomorrow , Saturday and Sunday at 7 p.m. at Beneficent Church, 300 Weybosset St. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Board members: New members of the RI Pride 2009 Board of Directors include:
Mike King, Rebecca Barrett, and Brian Mills. Those re-elected are: Rodney Davis as president, Kurt Bagley, vice president and Bill Zelazny, a director.
Film: Movie Night will be held on Friday, Dec. 19 at 8 p.m, at the RI Pride Center.
Films will be announced on the upcoming RI Pride E-News Blast and on the RI Pride calendar at www.PrideRI.com/pridecalendar.html.
Screening: Life’s A Drag, a Wutup Productions documentary by Rhode Island filmmaker Lara Sebastian, will be the featured presentation on Monday, Dec. 15, at a fundraising/DVD release party to benefit Rhode Island Pride.
Catered by SHEA Catering with music provided by TIGHTCREW, the event will be held at Fire House 13, 41 Central St. Providence (behind the Broad St McDonalds). Doors will open at 7 p.m.
Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door and are available at www.lifesadragthemovie.com. A dvd and ticket bundle is also offered.
Wind up: An After Party will be held at The Dark Lady, 124 Snow St..

Donations sought: Marriage Equality Rhode Island (MERI) will hold a “MERI Day of Service” on Wednesday, Dec. 10 at the north entrance to the State House.
Food donations will be collected for the RI Food Bank, Amos House and Crossroads, as well as holiday gifts for the young women and children of the IRIE Transitional Program. Food Bank requests include boxed and canned goods, powdered and evaporated milk, potato flakes, cereal, oatmeal, pasta, rice, soup, condiments, crackers, tuna, peanut butter, jelly/jam and juice.
Amos House needs coffee and personal hygiene items. Crossroads could use slippers, hats, mittens, gloves and scarves for men, women and children (4 months to age 18).

A separate gift drive for foster children in Arkansas will be held from Wednesday, Dec. 10 to Friday, Dec. 19. A donation of $5 per person is requested to help pay for shipping. Gifts can be brought to the north entrance of the State House on December 10 or contact MERI to arrange for collection.
MERI Day of Service partners include RI Pride, in FOCUS and the Gay Straight Alliance of Warwick Veteran’s Memorial High School.
