Councilman’s traffic court arraignment is postponed
01:00 AM EDT on Wednesday, September 12, 2007
COVENTRY — Town Councilman Anthony J. Colaluca’s scheduled arraignment before the Rhode Island Traffic Tribunal, on a charge of refusing to submit to a chemical breath test, was postponed yesterday to Sept. 25.
Appearing before Magistrate William P. Noonan in South Kingstown, Colaluca’s lawyer, state Rep. Timothy A. Williamson, requested the continuance to give him more time to study information provided by the Coventry police.
Colaluca, 24, was charged with driving under the influence of liquor and refusing the breath test after an officer stopped his car on Arnold Road early on Aug. 25. He pleaded not guilty to the drunken-driving charge in District Court, Warwick, last week and was released on $5,000 personal recognizance; a pretrial conference was scheduled for Oct. 2.
