No verdict reached yet in hospital corruption trial

PROVIDENCE — The jury in the federal corruption trial of two former Roger Williams Medical Center executives deliberated for a second straight day without reaching a verdict.

Chief U.S. District Judge Mary M. Lisi released the jurors — nine women and two men — at 4:10 p.m. after they spent more than seven hours determining the fate of Robert A. Urciuoli and Frances P. Driscoll.
Urciuoli, the former president of Roger Williams, is charged with 35 counts of mail fraud and one count of conspiracy.
Driscoll, the hospital’s former vice president of external affairs, is charged with one count of aiding and abetting the alleged conspiracy.
The jury is scheduled to resume deliberations today at 9 a.m.
