PROVIDENCE — A federal grand jury Tuesday indicted the Massachusetts man shot during a scuffle with an undercover state trooper at Lincoln Woods State Park on charges of possessing a firearm while a felon and possessing a firearm with its serial number removed.

Authorities say Arjusz C. Roszkowski, 26, went to Lincoln Nov. 6 to buy a shotgun and a 9mm Glock handgun for $1,000 from an undercover state trooper to commit robberies. The two struggled in a parking lot and Roszkowski shot himself in the neck, according to police.

Roszkowski, of North Reading, Mass., recovered and the police charged him with seven counts, including possessing a firearm while committing a crime of violence; carrying a pistol without a license; using a firearm to commit a violent crime; assault and battery with a dangerous weapon; and altering the identification marks on a firearm.

In addition, he faces federal gun charges in U.S. District Court in Rhode Island.

In 2006, Roszkowski was sentenced to 51 months in federal prison in 2006 for robbing a bank in New Hampshire.

Roszkowski is being held at the Adult Correctional Institutions on $250,000 surety bail, according to the state Department of Corrections Web site.

The case is being prosecuted jointly by state and federal prosecutors.
