Battling domestic violence: Sisters Overcoming Abusive Relationships is seeking motivated and passionate women to give some of their time to help create systematic change for domestic violence victims and their families. Joining SOAR is an opportunity for self-empowerment, growth and learning about the systems and how to effectively promote change. If interested in joining, or for information, call (401) 467-9940 or e-mail www.soarinri.org.

Advocates for children: Rhode Island Family Court is looking for adult volunteers to become court-appointed special advocates for children who are victims of abuse and/or neglect. CASA volunteers are trained citizens appointed by a judge to represent the best interests of a child in court. The volunteer provides the judge with researched background on the child in an effort to help the court make a sound decision about the child’s future.

To learn more about becoming a volunteer, call (401) 458-3330.
