As part of its Link to Learning Parent Workshop Series, Sargent Center, 800 Quaker Lane, Warwick, will present its first program of the current series Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Jennifer Twachtman-Reilly, a speech-language pathologist, will present “Translating Current Language & Communication Research into Best Intervention Practice for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders.” Twachtman-Reilly will describe how these deficits impact comprehension and expression, and will also offer intervention techniques. The Arthritis Foundation will sponsor a free “Fibromyalgia Treatment Update,” Saturday, Nov. 8, from 10 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. at the Warwick Public Library, 600 Sandy Lane, Warwick.

Presenters will discuss what fibromyalgia is, how it’s treated, the effects of the mind body approach, physical activity, integrative medicine and sleep improvement. A boxed lunch will be provided.

Maria Ribeiro, a registered nurse with Memorial Hospital Home Care, has received the Heart of Home Care Award given by Rhode Island Home Care Inc. Ribeiro, of Attleboro, is a member of the Home Care Four team and is active in Memorial Hospital Home Care Continuous Quality Improvement Committee.

Dr. Mark Schwager has been named medical director by the Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) Organization of Rhode Island. Schwager, of East Greenwich, was previously with the University Medal Group in East Greenwich.

Roger Williams Medical Center’s Pharmacy has been recognized as the “number one hospital throughout Yankee Alliance” with regard to medication contract adherence and compliance.

Family Medicine: Dr. Matilda Addo, Dr. Stephen Andreoni, Dr. Solmaz Behtash, Dr. Steven Busselen, Dr. Maria Castro, Dr. David Coia, Dr. Paul George, Dr. Cindy Gleit, Dr. Kohar Jones, Dr. Vanessa Little, Dr. Elizabeth Nowak, Dr. Janice Patacsil-Trull, Dr. Grace Shih. The hospital also appointed Dr. Gowri Anandarajah residency director for the Department of Family Medicine and the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Anandarajah, of Barrington, is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians; the American Medical Association; the Rhode Island Academy of Family Physicians; the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine; the Rhode Island Medical Society; and the World Organization of Family Doctors.

The Providence Veterans Administration Medical Center and the Rhode Island College School of Nursing have been selected to participate in the Veterans Administration Nursing Academy. The Miriam Hospital is the recipient of the American Stroke Association’s Get With the Guidelines Gold Performance Achievement Award. The award recognizes the hospital’s commitment to providing quality stroke care by implementing nationally accepted standards of care and recommendations for at least two years.
