Coaching seminar: District 31, Toastmasters International will sponsor a free Champ Coaching seminar by Darren LaCroix, the 2001 World Champion of Public Speaking on Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Plan USA, 155 Plan Way, Warwick.
Attendees will have the opportunity to give a short presentation and then be coached by LaCroix on specific ways to improve, including ways to incorporate humor, that will leave a lasting impression.

Poker night: A Wish Come True, Inc. and The Eastern Poker Tour will hold a “Texas Hold’em Poker Night” on Friday, Aug. 3, at White’s of Westport, 66 State Rd., in Westport, Mass. There will be a donation of $100 for each player for 5,000 chips.
All proceeds benefit A Wish Come True, Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts’ oldest wish-granting organization, granting wishes to children ages 3 through 18 who have life-threatening illnesses.
Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. and the game starts 7. There will be a limited amount of seating available, so preregister by calling (401) 781-9199.
The first 100 players to preregister will go into a drawing for a casino quality 10-person poker table, with a retail value of $850.
The final table will pay out $10,000, with a minimum of 150 participants. First place will receive $3,500 and a satellite seat for the World Series of Poker. For payout and tournament information, log on to the Eastern Poker Tour Web site www.easternpokertour.com
