The Rhode Island Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a person who abandoned a dog last week in Johnston.
The dog was abandoned on Nov. 2 around 10:15 p.m. in the parking lot of the Log Gift & Curtain Shoppe, 2737 Hartford Ave. (Route 6), said Dr. Ernest J. Finocchio, president of the RISPCA.
The drop-off was witnessed by a person living near the site, Finocchio said in a news release. The neighbor saw a dark-colored sedan leaving the dog at the scene.
