Central Falls man killed in accident
01:00 AM EDT on Tuesday, October 14, 2008
PAWTUCKET — A 28-year-old Central Falls man died early yesterday when his car slammed into a utility pole near Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island.
The police say the accident occurred at the corner of School Street and Exeter Avenue at 1:30 a.m.
Officers responding to the call found a car had struck a utility pole, sustaining heavy damage. The driver, whose name was still being withheld late last night, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Pawtucket police said the man’s last known address was in Central Falls, but could not be more specific.
The police also refused to give out any further details last night about the crash citing the ongoing investigation and detectives handling the case were not available because of the Columbus Day holiday.
The accident is being investigated by the Pawtucket police detectives’ bureau and the accident reconstruction unit, according to a statement by the department.
